WebDesktop and while it looks very cool, with the transparency and all, it won't let you show the page in a cropped frame like WebDesk, or display the page on a second monitor. By setting the width and positioning of a page, you can show just the rectangular area of a page that's of interest to you and refresh it periodically, cropping out ads and all other info. I hope these programs learn from each other, because each one has features the other lacks.
Hmmmh does it the same like WebDesktop? - Version: 1.0.2, 7/8/2003 05:00PM PST

Because if so, WebDesktop fills nearly all my needs. Exept maybe remembering the last URL. I use it to have my MLDonkey web interface under control.

of a few good uses for this. I'll look forward to the ability to click links, or at least click the "window" and go to the same URL in Safari that WebDesk is displaying. I agree that the window sizing/positioning is a little primitive, but once I get it set up, I don't forsee having to change it that much. Please allow less than 5 min reload intervals! I'd prefer 1 min. Although I've found that web pages with auto-refresh code in them will refresh themselves at their specified rate. And since it isn't really embedded in the desktop, and you can't hide this app, there's no way to get to icons behind the web page. It would be great if you could "crop" from the top of the web page the way you essentially can from the other three sides. Anyway, there's a lot of potential here, which is why I had so many comments/ideas.

Tumult
I thought about having a permanent mini-google page on my desktop for whenever I needed to do a quick search. Unfortunately, I can't interact with the page on my desktop -- it's just a static render of the page. I suppose this has its uses (webcams, news, etc) but it's also a pain to position because you have to do it numerically. Not for me, I guess. Also, it gives off a faint impression of ActiveDesktop (shudder)
