Product Description:

NoiseFixer is a Photoshop plug-in for Mac and PC that removes 'noise' or 'grain' from images without removing any of the crispness of the image, unlike other noise removal tools.

NoiseFixer has an easy to use interface which allows you to view and adjust the level of luminance and chrominance noise in an image independently, and then view the combined results. It operates on both 8 bit and 16 bit images.

As other people have reported online, the developer Fixerlabs often does not respond to customers.

We have sent 3 emails over the last 2 months and had no response.

The telephone number for the company on VersionTracker is disconnected.
The telephone number on their current WHOIS information is disconnected.

We have called 3 times the telephone number currently listed on their website www.fixerlabs.com, each time we received an answering machine. We left a message each time and no one has returned our calls.

We messaged them through the webform on their website and also left feedback on their feedback form. We have not had any reply.

We contacted Computers Unlimited their UK distributor who are listed on their website as the current UK distributor of their products. They say they do not currently distribute any Fixerlabs products and cant remember when they last did it was so long ago. The person listed as their contact at Computers Unlimited has not been with the company for some time.

We needed to speak to Fixerlabs regarding our licence and because we quite liked the product and were recommending it to our colleagues and clients. Unfortunately we cannot use the products we purchased as we cannot contact them about our licence. Clearly now we will no longer be recommending their products purely on the basis they do not seem to care about their customers.

We are a professional media company and have dealt with many small and large software companies and have always had a response or been able to contact other companies. We would recommend that if you wish to use these pretty good applications from Fixerlabs that you bear in mind the problems contacting the company and the lack of up to date information on their website.

Best third-party noise reduction plug-in I've seen for digital images. Still, it can't compare to the noise reduction that's built in to the Photoshop RAW import.

And kudos to the authors for making it 16-bit compatible.

NoiseFixer ReviewUseful! - Version: 1.1.1, 10/9/2003 07:00PM PST

Pictures from my digital camera have noisy skies, especially after I have done leveling and color correction. In Photoshop Elements, eliminating the noise with either Gaussian Blur or Median leaves problematic sky/land edges. NoiseFixer handles the edges very well, but leaves artifacts in the clear areas. Using NoiseFixer first and then Gaussian Blur or Median later produces satisfyingly noise-free skies.
