Doesn't work as advertised

We tried every way imaginable to get this product to work properly, but it simply doesn't work. Even though it creates a vCard file, Address Book cannot import the file that is created. Address Book simply reports that "No importable cards were found." We finally realized that we didn't need to spend $10 for this non-working product, but rather that we could do it for FREE by importing our FileMaker data into either Palm Desktop or Mozilla Thunderbird.

It works like a charm. The tech support was excellent, and it saved my life. I had to send email to 500 people. The list was sent to me in Excel. It would not import into Address Book. I saved as .txt, I saved as .cvs. Nothing but error messages. I imported to Filemaker, exported the VCard, and was able to send the emails within minutes.
I highly recommend this. It is well worth $10.

This little FileMaker tool worked like a charm. There were some issues that I wasn't aware of when importing records to Address Book and vCard Creator took care of them without my having to "massage" my data. The registration password was sent to me within an hour of paying the small price, and when I had a question they responded within minutes via email. And the best thing of all was that I could retain my categories from my FileMaker database by mapping my category and keyword fields to the same fields in vCard Creator. So creating and sorting my data into groups in Address Book took about 2 minutes after the import, which is really helpful since I have over 6300 records and have put them into the iPhone. So the entire process took about 5 minutes to get my records out of my database and into groups in Address Book.
Brilliant! Just what I needed!

After reading the instuctions... then matching the fields... it took minutes to get 3500 new names into the 'Address Book'.
Then 2 minutes to get them into my iPod.
The cost... $10.

After fumbling through the software, cleaning the imported records and finally attaining somewhat clean data - you get a surprise that you can use the software for five records. This would have been ok if the developer had been straight forward but having to wait for a pw, etc.... So rather than feel hostage to the trick I just decided to do something easier. Export from Filemaker as Tab-text, then import from Apple's Address book! You have nice clean vCards in versions 3.0 or 2.1. No use for vCard Creator's shenanigans!

Filemaker vCard Creator does it's job but it is in fact not a\shareware but a crippled demo. After you have cross-conected all your fields for conversion from Filemaker to vCard you are presented with the information that vCard Creator will only covert 5 contacts unless you paypal the author his payment of $10. Then you must WAIT for your registation # to come by email. Now $10 is pocket change in this day and age and certainly fair compensation for a useful yet one use tool. However being informed in this manner while in mid-task burnt my whiskers and I remembered that the FREE Palm® Desktop 4.2.1 <http://www.palm.com/us/software/desktop/mac.html>does an excellent conversion of Filemakers tab-seperated text export to vCard. So Filemaker 5.5 to tab-text, palm import and then export as vCard and an import in Mac Address Book, all very painless. You would have gotten my biz without complaint Buddy, if you had been straightforward from the start. BTW - Palm Desktop used to be the best Mac contact manager Claris Organizer untilApple abandoned it and Palm rescued it and gave it out so that Mac Palm Pilot users had compatable desktop software.
