I'm sorry to see so many negative comments about Cass Design. I used Cass Design ScreenSavers on a trial basis several years ago. Finally decided to purchase the package of several of the screensavers as a Christmas gift. Put in my order to also obtain a cd in November and paid via Internet, received an acknowledgement from PayPal or whichever pay method they were using with the note that the cd order was submitted to designer, and I would receive registration key from the designer as well.

I did receive the cd in a timely fashion but no key. Went round and round ... attempting to contact Cass Design hoping to straighten it out without giving negative feedback to PayPal ... no response .... A month went by.

Finally contacted PayPal ... they contacted Cass Design and sent me a copy of their email ... and no response. Finally received a credit from PayPal. By that time I believe we were into a 2nd month.

The upshot ... I have a Cass Design cd still sitting in my drawer ... with no registration key. Needless to say, my mother-in-law didn't receive the screensaver as a Christmas gift. While these screensavers are great, the customer service stinks. I would not recommend doing business with Cass Design.

Art Museum Screen Saver ReviewFrom Lascaux to Turner and the Impressionists - Version: 2005, 8/30/2005 04:04PM PST

The opening image of this compelling screensaver--Michelangelo’s Delphic sibyl from the Sistine Chapel--moves me each time I see it. From the sibyl’s beautiful, careworn face follows a riveting sampling of humanity's great and beloved art. The Art Museum Screensaver includes expected masterpieces (who could leave out the Mona Lisa from such a collection, for instance?), but it also includes what were, for me, surprises: horses painted on cave walls 10,000 years ago, each animal as alive as those in any Constable or Bierstadt. Every period of Western art from the Renaissance to the Impressionists is included (with the addition of the aforementioned brilliant example from the end of the last Ice Age). The screensaver also includes two Japanese masterworks.

Impressive as this assemblage is, however, I feel that it is a release or two away from being truly noteworthy. The collection already spans time and culture: why not, then, make it what it already partly is: an educated attempt to reference the best of this world’s painted art? To that end, I encourage the editors at Cass Design to consider adding, in future releases, representative Indian, Persian, Anasazi, Egyptian, and Chinese paintings. Modern Western art should also not be absent from this collection; Cass Design sells another screensaver dedicated entirely to twentieth-century art, but surely room could be found in this collection for expressionist and abstract examples: perhaps one Pollock; at least one Picasso. And lastly, a screensaver such as this should download with an explicated bibliography. Even with these correctable omissions, however, this screensaver is a joy. I recommend it.

I am pleased to report this morning's inbox found a new copy of my registered program. Why did it take so long?! Does one have to resort to negative comments on other developer's products to get satisfaction? I hope this is an anomaly because his images are really better than what you can find for free on the web. I'd just might buy other savers from this guy but I'll be sure to keep the .sit file in a safe place next time!
