I've been using Onyx very happily for a year or two now. I've never had a problem, and it's come to my rescue on several occasions as well. Many of the issues being reported seem like they come from people who didn't know what they were doing when they chose advanced options. I'd encourage people to make sure they know what will happen before they use system utils like this. All in all though, big thumbs up for OnyX

OnyX completely ruined my MacBook Pro C2D.
Function keys 1-10 won't work, can't adjust loudness, brightness, backlight anymore. The Shutdown-Box doesn't stay on screen. The developer's support is lacking, because he doesn't speak english well enough to make himself understood. Don't use this app. Seriously.

doing a hard disk verify. Had to do a hard shutdown.
Looks like I was lucky, though; nothing missing or damaged. DU checked my HD just fine.
Won't be using this again, I guess.

I've had tons of problems since I ran Onyx on my MacBook Pro. In addition to removing foreign languages, it removed my ability to print from any app, my ability to create PDF's and several other quirky problems. My tech people tell me that it was a mistake to use it, and have to reimage my computer.

I have been using Onyx for about a year now. I always appreciate not only how good it is, but how quickly they provide updates to the program. Onyx would be a good value even if there was a charge for it, but the fact that it is free makes it a steal.

I ran the Automator on my G4, 10.4.8 with the default settings and after restart, remained at the grey apple screen for 10 minutes before giving up and hitting the restart button. Took longer than usual to get to the desktop but once it did all was running fine.
I've had this issue before where I get stuck at the grey apple screen with earlier versions. What's up with that?
