Product Description:
Photo Buddy is a small Universal Mac OS X application that allows you to use more than one photo Library with Apple's iPhoto as well as with it's companion programs, iMovie and iDVD. The advantages of splitting your One Huge Photo Library into multiple, smaller ones include improved iPhoto performance, increased flexibility in organizing your digital photo collection, and a consistency with most other Mac applications that allow their respective data to be store in as many files (documents) as you like.
iPhoto Buddy uses a simple, streamlined interface that was inspired by iPhoto itself. Anyone that has used iPhoto will immediately feel right at home using iPhoto Buddy. It truly is a companion application--a real buddy!
What's new in this version:
- Buddy now allows you to save & use a separate copy of iPhoto's Preferences with each Library in your Library List.
- Corrected an issue that caused Buddy to display an error message and quit if the Info Panel was open while in Name mode if there were unfound Libraries in the Library List.
- Corrected an issue that caused Buddy to display an error message and quit if the Info Panel was open and a Library belonging to iPhoto 4.x or earlier was selected in the Library List.
- Buddy now updates the Library List properly when changes have been made to a Library in the List while Buddy was not the active application.
- Corrected an issue where Buddy was not always properly caching Library information, causing delays when changing the selection in the Library List.
- Corrected an issue that caused Buddy to incorrectly display the error message "Library Registration Failed", when in fact, the "registration" had been successful.
- Corrected an issue where Album counts were not always correct on some systems for iPhoto 2.x Libraries.
- Minor performance and stability improvements.

Mike in HelsinkiYou can slice and dice your monster iPhoto archive and back it up much better by this gem of an application. I positively recommend this as AN ESSENTIAL APP for your Mac.
And damnit, donate to this guy.

orlans108It's much easier than switching libraries via the built-in Mac way. The interface is well thought out and attractive, and the users manual is extensive. It's great!

- Wonderful Product
I am still in awe, with every iP update that Apple hasn't taken up this idea. Those of you who prefer to quit iPhoto, reopen holding the option key, and then browse for your other libraries each time you want to change -- more power to you, but I much prefer to have my list of libraries in one place from which I can relaunch the iPhoto library I need in one step. I have several different categories of photos -- Family shots; Professional photography; school yearbook client website photos; stop-motion animation libraries; to name a few.
Moreover, without having to open each library, I iPhoto Buddy shows me exactly which albums, books, slideshows; how many "items" (pix & movies); which iPhoto version; etc., etc.
Don't know how I'd function without iPhoto Buddy!
