EverQuest ReviewEQ more immersive, long-lasting than WoW - Version: 1.0.7, 6/10/2005 01:10AM PST

versiontracker236
I played WoW for a few months -- and I, like many, came back to EQ.

Part of it is definitely the incredible community we have on the EQ Mac server, but it's also just a more involved, detailed, thinking-oriented game that requires communication and strategy rather than button pounding.

And hey, since you can try it for free (free download, free 30 day key -- check out http://www.eqmac.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4639) there's nothing lost.

I am glad that EQMac is now free to download and free for one month! Yay!

Long download times for the massive updates though!

I commend EQ for making the software available, but I was really disappointed. I just didn't think this was that great of a game.

World of Warcraft is one of the best games ever made and it blows EQ out of the water. Blizzard's attention to detail (forgiving several bugs) is amazing.

run a google search on everquest. There are a LOT of sites devoted to giving advice about how to start playing and what to do. Some good ones are Allakhazam's Magical Realm and EQ Atlas. LOTS more.

EverQuest Troubleshooting ReportPanther support? - Version: 1.0.4, 11/20/2003 12:11AM PST

By the way, has anyone successfully run Everquest under Panther? There is a report on MacFixit that someone tried and it didn't work. Can anyone verify this?

Well, there are a few bugs with how the graphics work. There is also a really bad documentation system. Hard for new players to figure out what the heck they are doing. I got this game free with my .Mac renewal, but I probably wont renew my free month of the subscription service. To high of a learning curve.

EverQuest Reviewfun but buggy - Version: 1.0.4, 11/4/2003 10:19PM PST

It's a lot of fun to run around this world and talk to folks but the program is awfully buggy for something with a subscription fee. For example, the monsters seem to have a precarious relationship with gravity. They often start going up trees if they run into them. Walls seem to be irrelevant to them. They walk right through them and attack you. Tonite I keep getting this bug where I can't type any more and have to log out to get back to normal if I try to reply to someone. And it's VERY common to be disconnected or otherwise have the game crash. Irritating...

Does this support Dvorak or any other foreign key layout yet? It didn't in the beta and i was wondering if it did yet.
