Forty-Two DVD-VX Plus ReviewVery Poor Software - No Support - Version: 3.3, 4/7/2008 06:28AM PST

rondeaver
This software is very unreliable. What I mean by this is that sometimes it successfully processes a DVD title. Sometimes it spends what seems to be an eternity and then reports an error, or just cfrashes.

Multiple emails sent for support have gone unanswered. The fine print of the user agreement notes that there are totally no guarantees nor refunds. This is one package I wish I tested thoroughly before purchasing a license, though you can only rip a short duration of video with an unregistered copy (I believe it is 10 minutes).

Look around and try other products before purchasing. Be sure this is the one you want before sending in your money for a license, otherwise you will be sorry.

Forty-Two DVD-VX Plus ReviewDeveloper Unresponsive - Version: 3.3, 12/17/2007 09:23PM PST

The_Shadow
I have to add my complaints to the chorus here. I did a complete clean install of Leopard and went to re-install Forty-Two DVD VX. Like everyone else here, the Serial Number I was supplied at the time of purchase no longer works.

Several attempts to contact the developer via his support page have gone with no response at all. A quick check of the same product on the MacUpdate.com website shows they have placed an editors warning on the product due to lack of support going on for over a year now.

Until this developer gets his house in order, I would strongly advise to save your money and look elsewhere.

Developer has posted v3.2 on his website which is for Leopard. Maybe people should try contacting him again.

Forty-Two DVD-VX Plus Usage TipDon't buy from this company - Version: 3.2.0, 11/4/2007 06:54AM PST

Warning!! This company provides ABSOLUTELY no technical support. When I upgraded to OS X 10.5 my serial number for this program immediately stopped working. I have not gotten any response to the dozen emails and phone messages I have left this company requesting support.

I'm considering reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.

...I wouldn't try this software!

If the developer/vendor at least TRIED to defend his position it would be helpful, but...

Forty-Two DVD-VX Plus Usage TipRegistration Help - Version: 3.0.9, 8/3/2007 10:11AM PST

kscarbery
Alright, so I too have been bitten by the registration snafu (although I finally did receive a follow up email from the developer with a new code). The registration keys are locked to a specific time window from when they were generated. Solution? Set your computer's clock back to the date you received your registration email and try again. Open program, paste in reg code, and like magic, it accepts the key. Admittedly, a dumb way to do registration.

Just a thought, but does this count as "cracking" DRM under the DMCA?

Forty-Two DVD-VX Plus CommentaryStay away from this software - Version: 3.1.0, 7/27/2007 06:05PM PST

Must add my voice to everyone else complaining about this software developer.

The software is very good since around version 3.0, but their support is non-existent. I've been a registered user since Feb 2005, but have been unable to use it since May 2006 because they DO NOT RESPOND TO EMAILS.

No user's registration code worked after version 3.0.8, and the company didn't reply to complaints from ANY registered user after 3.0.9 was released. Even after sending dozens and dozens of e-mails asking how to get my old, fully-paid registrations to be accepted, I've never heard back from the company, the software engineer, their SUPPORT page, or any of the e-mails I can find.

Stay away from this company!

Do not purchase anything from this guy. He is a crook. His main developer quit the company because he was not being paid. He does not answer emails, or responds. Version Tracker needs to get on the case and ban this guy from putting software up for sale.

BAN THIS GUY!!!!!!!!

Forty-Two DVD-VX Plus ReviewUpgrade is broken, developer doesn't respond to e-mails - Version: 3.0.9, 3/1/2007 11:29PM PST

The previous verison of this software worked great and it was long overdue for an upgrade. However this was not the upgrade it should have had. They have added two addional devices and broke the program. I started out getting crash errors for the Nokia device. Now I don't get that, but now I can not change the encoding options. I have e-mailed to this developer several messages including all the information of the problems I have had with this upgrade.

I can no longer recommend this product. I will have to remove this from my system and consider the money spent on the upgrade to be a waste.
