Product Description:

SubRosaSoft CopyCatX is an extremely fast and easy-to-use utility for duplicating a Mac OS X volume or cloning a complete drive. It is perfect for: Anyone who wants to upgrade to a bigger drive. Users backing up their systems with the knowledge that the bootability and user privileges will be retained. Game players who want to make a perfect copy of a drive with all the hidden files duplicated. Systems administrators who need to deploy multiple drives with identical content. Forensic experts whose job requires identical copies of the original drive. Cross-platform users who need to clone a PC or Linux hard drive quickly and easily. CopyCatX utilizes a method called "device-to-device copying" instead of "file-by-file" copy employed by most backup software. Using device copy enables you to retain every detail of the original drive, from bootablity to the icon locations. Device copy is also a lot faster than the traditional file-by-file backup. The use of device copy normally means the size of the destination volume will be the same as the source volume, but with our resizing technology, we have successfully managed to overcome the primary limitation found in other device copy programs. After the device copying is completed, CopyCatX will automatically expand the volume size to the maximum, so no space is wasted. Even with such features and the performance, CopyCatX is extremely straight-forward to use. CopyCatX's easy-to-use interface was designed for all OS X users. The whole operation can be completed with a few clicks.

CopyCatX ReviewCaution! Software download is incomplete, developer unresponsive! - Version: 4.0, 8/28/2008 08:53PM PST

I needed to duplicate my laptop's startup disk and purchased a license of this software to do so. Amazingly, the application has no ability to copy a running boot disk and no provisions to create a boot disk!

When I looked in the user manual to see how to get one, another surprise: One must send a request to have a disk MAILED. That's right, mailed. It's 2008, we all have high speed connections, and rather than offer a boot disk image they MAIL one to you.

I emailed within (a few wasted) hours of downloading to request a refund. A month's gone by and they didn't even bother to reply.

The story ends happily though. My credit card company is reversing the charges and Carbon Copy Cloaner made a perfect dupe from a running boot disk with perfect results.

I had my doubts but this application is absolutly idiot proof.

Just click to start, select the action, click to GO. Just the way a Mac application should be.

It cloned a 160 GB Hard drive in less then half an hour.

I've tried SuperD and CarbonC but I ended up with coasters in that the drives would not boot. Had to completely reinstall. I guess you have to be a bit geeky to use those two programmes.

I fully recommend this programme.
