Shellsilver Developer NoteUses parent directory - Version: 1.4, 5/18/2004 07:43PM PST

andyszy
In response to Hansi's comment: If you set a shell script to open with Terminal, it will be executed from the user's home directory and without a console window. Usually, what you want is to execute the shell script from its parent directory, and with a console window showing the script's output. This is what Shellsilver does. Hopefully Apple will make the default behavior more sensible in the future, and Shellsilver will be unnecessary.

Shellsilver Usage TipFixes permissions - Version: 1.4, 11/9/2003 04:11PM PST

The new version will fix the permissions if they're not set correctly. The Terminal doesn't do this. It also gives shell scripts a special "shell" icon in the Finder.

Well, actually, the trick described by Hansi happens to work.
When I use it, the shell script does get executed.
So what's the point about this application?

Opening an .sh file in Terminal is not the same as executing it.

You can use this app, or you can just get info on a .sh file and select it to open with the Terminal.app and then click Change All...
