Product Description:
Tux Paint is a paint program intended for young children (ages 3 and up). It has a very simple and fun-to-use interface, lots of sound effects, and a cartoon penguin who helps explain things. A variety of drawing tools are available, including a set of 'magic' special effect tools, and a 'rubber stamp' (or 'stickerbook') tool for placing pre-drawn and photographed images into a picture.
Tux Paint is free software, released under an Open Source license. It has been translated into over 2 dozen languages, including Spanish, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Greek and Hebrew. It also runs on Windows, Linux and BeOS.

Version 0.9.18b1 does not run on Mac OSX. The developer's site has a fix here.

I use the older version of Tux Paint on my Intel Macs with my students and they love it as do I. The program is great.
I downloaded this new one onto my OSX3.9 eMacs and Powerbook laptop and in all three cases it tries to start up but then closes down.
I have made quite a few new stamps for my students on my computers using GIMP and wonder if there is some conflict there.

- Love Tux Paint
Tux Paint is really intuitive software for small children to use and enjoy. Let your kids explore with it on their own and they'll likely delight you by the creative ways they use it.
This is a real "winner" with little children!
