You should see the people who did the actual grunt work programming FLAC. They work for free.

Glad to hear that you work for less than $2 per day.

While the author is not technically obliged by the GPL to open-source his code or make the product free (as I understand it, GPL doesn't make you do this if you only call on a GPL binary), this is still downright dirty. There is nothing especially complex about this wrapper, and with about a week's work, I could do the same thing in AppleScript Studio. All you have to do is pass a few parameters on to the command-line encoder dictated by options in the GUI. So no, I would not recommend this product.
Works as advertised

So it's GPL'ed. So what? He took the time to implement a wrapper and that's worth time. Considering how much work he had to do, and I know cause I helped beta the software, it's worth $10.
Don't like it? Don't use it. Write your own shell. Get over it.

I'm really getting sick of people that exploit free, open-source software like FLAC and SoX by charging $10(!!) for a simple wrapper. I'll have a free, open-source (gpl) converter that supports most formats (aif, wav, mp3, ogg, flac, etc.) out next week.

Freeware? - Version: 1.0, 7/17/2003 11:44PM PST

Thisis not freeware, it is 10$ shareware. Pardon me, $10 for a simple GUI wrapper and an ugly icon around the open source flac (http://flac.sourceforge.net/)? You are kidding, right?
