Product Description:

Evernote allows you to easily capture information in any environment using whatever device or platform you find most convenient, and makes this information accessible and searchable at any time, from anywhere. Use Evernote to jot notes, create to-do lists, clip entire web pages, manage passwords, and record audio. Everything added to Evernote is automatically synchronized across platforms and devices and made searchable. Evernote will even recognize printed or handwritten text in photos and images.

Evernote offers two account levels: Free and Premium. Free users have access to all the tools, recognition, and synchronization, but are limited to a 40MB monthly upload allowance. Premium accounts receive 500MB monthly upload allowances, SSL security, priority image recognition, and premium support.

What's new in this version:

  • Evernote for Mac can now install a native Safari plugin, which makes it easy to clip directly into Evernote while browsing the web using Safari. Includes:
  • Clipping a selected portion of a web page
  • Clipping the entire web page
  • Clipping a PDF snapshot of a full webpage, rendered exactly as it appears in the browser. Shortcut: Shift+click on the Safari Clipper
  • A 'Merge Notes' command is now availble in the edit menu and the note list context-menu. This command will merge the contents of selected notes into a new note.
  • Promotions display at the bottom of the left-hand nav.
  • Support for Growl notifications.
  • Fixed a bug where removing *all* tags from a note would not get synced up to the server.
  • Improved performance and stability when syncing several thousand tags from the server.
  • "Show/Hide Info" is now called "More/Less Info", and new note editor windows are opened with the state set by the user.
  • Fixed an issue where file attachment information would not display correctly inside a note when running on a case-sensitive file system.
  • Fixed Safari 4 Beta compatibility issues. This includes the note search field sporadically selecting all of its text.
  • Fixed a bug in the Evernote AppleScript dictionary, which made scripts that accessed a note's 'source url' property fail to compile.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some images to fail to make it into the note when clipping HTML from a file.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some hyperlinks to get stripped from the note when clipping HTML from a file.
  • Fixed a bug in the thumbnail viewer which would cause the app to crash or stop responding to mouse clicks.

Evernote ReviewNow Works with 1Password - Version: 1.5.0, 10/30/2009 01:06PM PST

I use 1Password from Agile Solutions all the time for my password generation, storage, and recall. In prior versions, because the Evernote's Safari clipper plugin conflicted with 1Password in Safari, I really couldn't use Evernote as easily as I wanted.

However, with this version, Evernote and 1Password work side by side in Safari, and all is well.

The free version now has a tiny 1.5" x 1.5" ad on the bottom left of the screen. For me, that seems like a small "price" to pay for the free storage and free application. However, now that I can use the Safari clipping service, I plan to upgrade to a paid account.

I love Evernote's integration with the iPhone version of Evernote and with the web-based version so that I can access it on any computer.

For me, this version really works out all of the kinks in Evernote, and I am very happy with it.
