I've been working hard on adding state-specific information to SARS, however, the format on the CDC site seems to be impossible.

SARS ReviewSerious this time - Version: 1.0b5, 6/14/2003 11:01AM PST

"United States" "Number of cases: 71" Product does not say since when, nor if there have been any whithin 2000 miles of where I am located. Exactly what is this supposed to do for me? Help with my paranoia? What I really need is a Monkey Pox alert, as there has been a case of that pretty close to me, like 1500 miles. Or perhaps a West Nile Virus detector because that virus is supposed to be moving into my area this summer and we have lots of senior communities here that can have big problem with West Nile virus.

"As a microbiologist I find this application quite usefull."
But, as a "microbiologist" you do not find proofreading or spell check usefull. Just goes to show what some media panic will do for science.

SARS ReviewPretty nice. - Version: 1.0b5, 6/14/2003 09:52AM PST

From a practicality standpoint, it would have been better if it were a .menu item instead of an app, but I give infinite thanks that you hid the dock icon. From a usability standpoint, I won't actually let it hog my precious menubar space, but as far as entertainment value goes, this ranks right up there with the Homeland Security meter. Thanks a ton, now lets all go live our lives like normal people and go out for Chinese again.

SARS CommentaryCan you spell biased? - Version: 1.0b5, 6/14/2003 02:49AM PST

SARS is not a joke. We don't know exactly how it's spread, exactly where it came from, or exactly where it's going. It's nothing more than an interface to a web page wrapped up into nifty menu item for easy access. So who cares that you have no interest in the statistics for the SARS virus? If you're not interested, DON'T DOWNLOAD THIS APPLICATION!! Nobody is forcing you to download it. Also, you shouldn't post ANYTHING to this feedback if you have not downloaded and tried the application (::looks at Andreas Schwarz::). You people make it seem like I released this program simply for laughs. This is no laughing matter. SARS has crippled the economies of numerous nations, and for all I (or anybody else for that matter), SARS could very well change our way of life. I bet if I had released this in April or whenever SARS WAS a big issue, none of you would be saying anything. Don't be so eager to act like a child.

SARS CommentaryMindless Zombies - Version: 1.0b5, 6/14/2003 02:10AM PST

Just beacuse a person cannot see any immediate personal benifit from an application posted on Versiontracker does not give them the right to post mindless and sarcastic reviews. As a microbiologist I find this application quite usefull. I can keep an eye on SARS outbreaks without having to plough through the PHL or CDC websites.
SARS is a new human disease, the last flu pandemic, just before the first world war started in the far east with sporadic outbreaks and had sporadic outbreaks throughout the following summer (UV light kills viruses), before spreading around the world the following winter. It killed more servicemen going to war than were killed in the war! It killed millions.
So Mindless Zombies unless you have something constructive to say sitck to your B-movies.

Do you have a zombie-nun menubar alert system? I was unaware that zombie-nun attacks were so common. Just when I thought the whole "monkey pox" thing was wierd, now I have zombie-nuns to worry about.

500 people have died of sars in the last six months, malaria kills 3000 peope each day. You've as much chance of contracting sars as you have of getting kicked to death by a gang of zombie nuns. You don't need this in your menu bar ;)
