Any chance of a Universal compile of this app even if other development has stopped?
Can be used for Arabic, too

Nice. I use it for Arabic and it works fine. The kana field contains the phonetic transcription. Hebrew should be just as easy.
exactly what i was looking for

best flash card program I've ever used in my life. doesn't try to do too much, as other flash card programs do, but does what it does well and intuitively. i'm using kotoba to rapidly learn the readings from Heisig's Remembering the Kanji vol. 2- Kotoba complements Heisig's system almost perfectly. After only one week of usage, I've internalized the first 500+ readings from that book, and i'm well on the way to completing RTK2 in a couple more weeks. (i.e. being kanji-literate) I can honestly say I would not have been able to do it without this program.
if this program is still in development, some suggestion i have are:
-auto-save on switching lexicons
-(bug) when you rename a lexicon it erases all its entries
-merge lexicon feature
-shortcuts - make them configurable, make more (toggle shuffle), global
-drop shadows on the overlay window (hard to choose a single colour the works under all window situations)
-when in shuffle mode, hit each entry once before starting over, instead of always randomly choosing from the set
-as others have said, a counter with "#completed/#to go" would be nice
-instead of just hitting left or right to go the next or previous, have "correct" or "incorrect" buttons that update a counter so that you can have a history of your performance on each character; then you can have the program favour choosing characters you are weak with and vice-versa.
