comment on this app versus ImagePrint for an Epson 4000. Both are touted as good but both are expensive. Don't want to make a mistake when buying.

I was almost going to buy this product for my Epson 9600, because i found that $495 is a good price for this rip, but when you go to their webpage, you notice that the small version starts at $795 and the large version (for my 9600) costs $1595! Perhaps changing the price tag on VT is a good idea? Or selling at $495 because i noticed it... ;-)
Good out of the box exerience

One of the nice things about the product is the quality of B&W prints since they use a mode to eliminate the yellow ink and supply quite good profiles for this mode of printing. Since it bypasses the Epson driver all together, a lot of the OSX/Epson print issues vanish. The supplied color profiles look good (I make my own but I suspect most users without this expensive hardware and software will be quite happy with the color). This and ImagePrint (much more expensive) are both nice for the user who wants to print the best possible image quality or for those that want to deal with vector files.
Get it for your Epson 2200/4000

This is a good RIP for yoiur Epson 2200, and if you want to make long prints on 13" roll paper, this RIP is a necessity. Epson's driver max'es out at 8" x 44". Just try to find another way to print a 12" x 60" panorama on that 2200 - this RIP does it! Try the demo.

Nothing funny, but why would you buy a $495 rip for your epson740?

Hi, please excuse this post if its not appropriate but I am having problems getting information about this problem and would be greatful for a pointer in the right direction. I have an Epson PM850T printer - bought in Japan - that cannot print correct colors from my iMac, the color sync utility tries to repair the color profile but I always get this error;
Searching for profiles...
Checking 42 profiles...
/Library/Printers/EPSON/PM850PT.plugin/Contents/Resources/ICCProfiles/PM-
850PT_GF.icc
Header white point is not D50.
The file is locked. Could not be fixed. etc, etc,
I wonder if XPROOF will work with this printer in the future?
Again, forgive me if I am off track, just desperate to avoid buying another printer.
Thanks alot
LF
