Product Description:

BoomBot allows developers to easily write AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) bots in Objective-C/Cocoa. Several examples are included, including a version of j-alice. There is no binary in this package (as there isn't anything interesting to non-developers).

The command-line version of BoomBot also compiles under Linux with GNUstep installed; GNUmakefiles are included.

BoomBot is, and will always remain, under the GNU GPL; this is due to the fact that it uses the GPL'd firetalk library.

What's new in this version:

  • Command-line interface
  • GNUstep support (CLI only)
  • Various fixes and enhancements.

  • Written and tested under OS X 10.2.6; should compile under 10.1.5 and later.

See http://boombot.sourceforge.net/ - BoomBot has been resurrected. As of this time, there are no new releases, but the code in SVN at the SourceForge site has been updated to work with the modern AIM network.

BoomBot has broken with AOL's semi-recent updates to the AIM network. I'm working on getting a new version of libfiretalk merged in (or possibly another library, if the new one doesn't work).

WHY exactly, do we need MORE bots on AIM?

Adding more bots to AIM is like saying the Sahara Desert doesn't have enough sand.
