Product Description:

FTLC stands for "finite time lines and circles". The program creates timelines based on user input of events in time and/or spans of time. Events and spans may be categorized (1 level depth). Some additional features available. Program may be considered as nearly finished or the prototype of a more complicated and polished development: only time will tell which is more accurate. Demo version allows saving of only 20 event records and 20 span records (but can read any size FTLCtimeline file), and only allows either one merge file or one import iCal file per running of the program.. Made with REALbasic.

What's new in this version:

  • Bugs found: event edit List would hang (spinning beach ball) on copy to clipboard due to mistakenly placed line of code [Fixed]; also, span edit list sort on span lengths now sorts correctly; also, a few alterations in the copying, dragging and printing of timeline(circle) graphics (e.g.bottom of timecircle could be cropped off when copied to clipboard or dragged to desktop as picture [fixed]).
  • new: choice of fontsizes (8 thru 14) for record names on graphs (menu: FTLCwindows > Global Settings). Timeline can automatically adjusts for record names and font sizes so they don't crop off top.
  • new: Most windows' (graphics, lists and media) size and placement are saved on a file by file basis.
  • augmented: edit lists (spans & events) altered & augmented somewhat with more display and output options; program printing allows more options (use colors, choose font & font size).
  • Some house cleaning has been done on the program's code.
  • This update is recommended for all users of the program, at least to avoid the bugs listed above.

FTLCtimelines Developer NoteDo not purchase license - Version: 0.9.5.6.07, 1/2/2008 07:46AM PST

I advise anyone interested in this program to NOT buy a license for it at this time. I should have a new beta version of FTLC uploaded sometime in the relatively near future and for the time being it will have no restrictions (i.e. no need for license). The new beta will be probably little better nor worse than the current version though what changes it may contained are not yet finalized.

FTLCtimelines Usage TipNo indications of program launch (other than menubar) - Version: 0.9.5.3.00, 6/25/2004 09:07AM PST

I felt this change might cause confusion, but I went ahead with it anyway. As above in the "what's new in this version", the opening window (of choices) is no longer there. All you see is the menubar on program launch (and at other times when something new is started). I know it's not typical mac behavior. Open a file or create a new file and there will still be nothing there but the menubar. One must select a menu item to see or do anything: either show the timeline or (for a new file) enter a new record (event or span) or view the database or import an ical file, etc. Originally this was in case one wanted to start entering new records without waiting for a timeline graphic to be generated. Sorry for the confusion, and I'm not sure I like the change because it gives no up front stimuli that the program is launched (other than in the menubar): perhaps I'll change it back (or forward), but it's this way for now.

Note: if the problem is other for quali or others than this above, then something is wrong (but I've seen nothing myself and quali would have to give me some info to get a handle on the problem).
