DVD Cache Troubleshooting ReportWon't work with Snow Leopard 10.6 - Version: 1.5.5, 9/16/2009 04:03PM PST

tobyb--2008
After 3 attempts to contact the developer, still no response. I have decided to switch DVDpedia and found their response time to my question about the ability to import the DVD Cache files was less than 30 minutes! Good news, if you have been using DVD Cache, this program will import the entire library complete with all information and posters quickly and easily. More versatile than DVD Cache, I regret having to change, but glad I did!

DVD Cache CommentaryHas been my favorite for years but now... - Version: 1.5.5, 9/11/2009 08:15AM PST

tobyb--2008
I have used this program for years and have a very large collection of DVD's. Now after the upgrade to OS 10.6 Snow Leopard, the program is broken and will not access the library or poster files. Have sent messages to the developer, who has been very responsive in the past, but have had no reply. I hope my years of data entry are not lost!

If the developer gets this fixed, I can give the program 5 stars, but if not I recommend anyone considering this program find something else!

DVD Cache CommentaryWas great software, but needs fixes - Version: 1.5.5, 9/2/2009 06:20AM PST

Even before I updated to Snow Leopard, v. 1.5.5 was no longer able to search the Amazon database. And while the developer had previously always been incredibly responsive, recent inquiries have gone unanswered. This WAS a great piece of software. I've used it for several years. But unless and until it is updated for compatibility with Snow Leopard and the database issues have been corrected, it is unusable.

I have been using DVDCache for a couple of years now and whenever I have had a problem and told Chris about it he has always gotten back to me with a fix or more questions to pin point the problem. I reported the problem of not deleting when the Warn When Deleting was turned off and Chris responded with questions and then a solution and told me to expect the fix soon. That was September 13, 2008 10:28:55 AM and here is the fix.

Thanks Chris,

Rusty

Have been trying to make a DB of my movies and have tried this and other DVD cataloging apps, none of them get the job done.

I just downloaded this updated version because v. 1.2.3a doesn't retain images, and the help file doesn't.

As the curator of a film library, I manage a rather large collection of film on DVD, and I've been using and enjoying DVDCache for quite some time. Not only are there many excellent features, but the developer is friendly and responsive. Over the years I have reported bugs and made suggestions, and I am always pleased with the open attitude of the developer. Any complex application like this always has room for improvement, and a good attitude on the part of the code writer makes all the difference.

Furthermore with the Sparkle auto-update framework built in, automatically downloading new versions, then auto-updating and auto-relaunching the app is as easy as can be. I only wish all developers would be as thoughtful of us.

In addition to the many nice features already built-into DVDCache, I happen to know that other welcome additions and improvements are on their way soon.

Enjoy!
