On a 2 Ghz G5 you get better than real-time (approx 1.5x real-time with default settings) while using only approx 60% of 1 CPU. I strongly suspect that the work is being slowed down by the speed of the DVD drive. I have however not done any test with a DVD image located on a hard drive.

poncho22: Yeah, perhaps you're new to DVD ripping, but it's extremely processor-intensive and even a dual 2GHz G5 will ONLY get you *almost* realtime encoding, typically. Also, don't bother with Quicktime when playing divx avi's- use Videolan Client (VLC).
I've been using HandBrake for my ripping lately but have been seeking more control (otherwise that app is outstanding) so I will try this app.

So what exactly does DVDibbler DO? It's the front end for an app that already has a front end? I'm utterly confused on this, especially since I've since found countless other "front ends" for Mencoder. Could someone please clear this up for me? I'd much appreciate an explanation. Thanks in advance.
