Exif Untrasher ReviewExcellent! - Version: 1.4.3, 12/29/2006 05:10PM PST

I had some corrupted pics in iPhoto since my previous back-up - using TextEdit to compare them with readable files it was clear that the header info was missing. This little app salvaged the original, deleted files from my camera's CF card with absolutely no trouble at all.

Thank you

Exif Untrasher ReviewIn my limited experience... - Version: 1.4.3, 9/27/2006 12:19AM PST

I was assigned to recover pictures from my mother's SD card, which she accidentally deleted. There were some important pictures in there, so I was even willing to pay for a shareware. I went to versiontracker, looked around goole, and came down to 3 apps to try. They are MediaRECOVER, Photorescue Wizard, and Exif Untrasher. Exif Untrasher is the only freeware. The other two will cost you $29, but has a trial [teaser] mode where they'll the apps will show you what pictures it can recover. To recover the files you must pay for the app.

In the end, I think MediaRECOVER and Photorescue came back with just a few more files (out of 147 or so) than Exif Untrasher. The few missing files didn't seem very important; certainly not worth $29 extra. I hope I'll never have to use an app like this again, but if I do, I know Exif Untrasher is a great freeware for the task.

Exif Untrasher Reviewworks really well - Version: 1.4.3, 9/6/2006 05:05AM PST

hi,
after i plugged my mobile via usb-cable in my mac,
i lost all may pics on my mobile (Sony w800i).
(i dunno, made something wrong...)

after i mounted the card only with my card reader,
started exif untrasher, built an image, saved the files
from the image to the hard drive,
i got them all back, except one which was only partly
visible.

So it worked very well for me.
Great tool.
Thanks

Matthias

Exif Untrasher CommentaryHow about RAW? - Version: 1.4.3, 6/7/2006 07:37AM PST

I suppose one can't expect an application to restore lost RAW files from media since there are so many different versions of RAW out there. But could an application, such as this, simply restore everything onf a flash card and then let the Finder or another application deal with RAW vs JPEG distinctions?

Exif Untrasher CommentaryNo luck here... - Version: 1.4.2, 4/14/2006 02:30PM PST

Just to try it out, I intentionally deleted all photos from my Fuji FinePix 1400 (no worries, they were all previously saved to disk). Connected the camera, and ran this app, which did locate the usual "Untitled" mounted volume for the camera. After several minutes of processing, it created a 125MB disk image, but no photos are to be found in there. Am I missing something?
