AJ Users (all thousands of you),
Having used this application for years I can recall numerous times that this untility has save me countless hours of work. I just visited the developers site to find out he is in the same pinch as he was with the move to OS10.5. He is strapped for money to develop the update to Snow Leopard <http://sourceforge.net/projects/applejack/forums/forum/271611/topic/3386280?message=7708116>.
Listed as FREEWARE he will accept donations. Please consider a donation to help him. It won't take much to fund a solution. EX: an external hard drive and Snow Leopard. The link is: <http://sourceforge.net/project/project_donations.php?group_id=79562>.

AppleJack ReviewSF & Macupdate list an AJ 1.5.1.... - Version: 1.5, 9/18/2009 02:56PM PST

...for LEOPARD;
Some claim that if you reinstall 1.5 from scratch it will work
Odd. The developer wasnt going to have a retail copy of SL until at least Sept 2....
youd think a SF developer would have had it a month early
Also inferred that since SL had changed little in terms of code-he could take off 15 mins and dash out a few lines of code and we would have AJ for SL-this on Aug 30...
Since it is free, I can hardly complain-but other suspect utilities such as XUPPORT, APE and SILK which I paid for are notable by their absence near a month after retail release-since im sure they had access to the developer final or GM well before that

AppleJack CommentarySnow Leopard incompatability but Patiently and Hopefully Waiting... - Version: 1.5, 9/8/2009 12:45PM PST

Firstly, if I were to make a list of top most useful, critical and generally indispensable utilities for the Mac...ever...AppleJack would top the entire list. It has for years now. It is, hands-down, the most useful utility I've ever employed and I have been using it through all its updates from Tiger on.

I give the developer so much credit for keeping this indispensable little utility free for the masses of Mac users out there while a bunch of others like MainMenu have sold out to folks who now want to charge money.

The AppleJack developer has provided something that by its very nature of being free and more useful than all the other ''wanna-be'' system maintenance-optimizers out there, and for nothing but the thanks of a hard-core, fiercely loyal group of followers, something very special.

You have my whole-hearted thanks and hopefully others of us out there will add to this and let you know we appreciate your continued hard work. You are one of the ''good guys'' of the Mac world.

Knowing in advance that it was incompatible with Snow Leopard 10.6, I used it ''one last time'' in 10.5.8 just prior to my move to Snow Leopard, I then sadly uninstalled it and then installed the Snow Leopard update. I miss AppleJack and look forward to ''reuniting with a long-time friend soon.''

Until then I have had to settle for the demo version of Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner. It works okay but to borrow a quote from the Hertz car commercial, ''there's AppleJack and not exactly.''

AppleJack CommentaryAJ for SL? - Version: 1.5, 9/3/2009 05:47PM PST

When can we expect a version that works with Snow Leopard?
(SL has some problems I can't tell where they're from and I noticed several "Please replace the following with launchd ..." on verbose startup - it goes so fast I can't catch any more.)

I DONT UNDERSTAND why so many developers are being caught by surprise here-its been rumoured for a month at least that SL would be out by end of August-and "Sept" COULD have meant Sept 1-for all they knew.....developer notes he "should have a copy (of SL) by Sept 3-4" (!) What?!

AppleJack CommentaryYou've all got me confused - Version: 1.5, 8/16/2009 03:26PM PST

lar01
I'm running 10.4.11. Half of you make this sound like the greatest thing since sliced bread, the other half wouldn't go near it with a ten foot pole. Some talk about running version 1.6, which I see no where, and some say that since I have Tiger, I must run the Tiger version, which I also don't see anywhere. I've had someone over at the Apple discussions suggest that I run this to try to fix a problem I've had, but after reading through this feedback, it seems as if that either would be a great thing to do or would put my Mac at risk. I'm also confused how a product with such mixed feedback can have a rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars.

Can some of you please cut through the contradictory feedback and clear things up? Thanks.

Version 1.5.1 is now available from the product homepage.

I require all my family and friends to have AppleJack on their Macs before I will agree to support them.

AppleJack CommentaryWould not finish - Version: 1.5, 4/26/2009 12:52AM PST

I downloaded Applejack 1.6 and ran it on my new white MacBook with OS10.5.6 using applejack auto restart.

It appeared to run through all its business and told me it was restarting the MacBook. However this did not happen and a few more lines of text appeared and then it simply hung so that I had to press the on/off button to make it quit.

AppleJack ReviewThe BEST Leopard troubleshooting software; free to try and love - Version: 1.5, 3/29/2009 02:15PM PST

I've used Applejack since it debuted for Panther and NEVER been disappointed. The developers at SourceForge who worked to get Applejack to run on Leopard are wonderful! Thanks guys for your hard work! Apple should have done the work you have done to debug Leopard. Highly recommended for ALL Leopard users!
