Export Artwork ReviewSimply the Best - Version: 4.1.3, 6/6/2006 05:12PM PST

This is the first time I've been compelled to review a product on VersionTracker. I tried all the rest, but this is the best. I don't understand why the rating isn't 5 stars. My only complaint before was the slowness (I used it on a PowerBook G4 awhile ago), but now this Universal Binary version flies on my new MacBook Pro. I lost all my artwork when I backed up to a PC and then copied files back to my new MacBook, but Export Artwork saved the day.

Export Artwork Reviewfinal errors on ID3 tag - Version: 4.0.1, 10/29/2005 05:16AM PST

Peters Mac Fixit
On 10-08-2005 the artwork ran on a 17000 song library when 1349 songs became corrupt on the ID3 tag. Allthough the support was very helpfull at start still no solution or reason was found. Here 's a list of errors on the ID3 Tags:
- Could not duplicate cover image. (-43) Finder got an error: File some object wasn't found. --> results in crash of itunes
- Could not embed Artwork. (-208) iTunes got an error: An error of type -208 has occurred. --> results in song no longer playable
- Could not embed Artwork. (-39) iTunes got an error: End of file error. --> results in crash of itunes
- Could not embed Artwork. (-45) iTunes got an error: File some object is locked.--> results in crash of itunes
- Could not embed Artwork. (-50) iTunes got an error: Parameter error. --> results in crash of itunes
- File not found. (-1728) --> no impact
If someone has encountered same issues, or even better can resolve corrupted Tags, please notify. IN the past Export artwork worked fine, but first I want this issue be resolved before using further, to avoid further tag problems.
Kind regards,
Peter

Export Artwork ReviewTotally Rocks - Version: 4.0.1, 9/15/2005 01:24PM PST

I've been looking for something like this for absolutely ages. I've tried everything I could find on versiontracker: Clutter, Album Cover Finder, Fetch Art; you name it, I've (probably) tried it. And the best I'd found before was the Artwork Search in Media Rage.

What made that better than the rest? The overview of several covers; and multiple stores to choose from. This latter is essential, as far as I'm concerned. I'm English and live in Germany, and have a lot of cds that just don't exist on Amazon.com. In Clutter you can check several stores (includine Amazon.de) but have to enter the preferences to do so; in FetchArt you actually have to restart the application to search in a different store. In Media Rage those stores are right above the preview window. Great. Only no Amazon.de.

Enter Export Artwork. This can be set to search any of 6 Amazon stores. I've never seen an app that search the French Amazon store - great for Les Negresses Vertes. It can even be set to search them all at once all at once!

And that's not the least of it. Export Artwork can also look through your entire library and make a playlist of only those songs which are missing artwork - then go through each piece and add artwork (similar to FetchArt, but much less traumatic). It has a very elegent HTML export function (which seems to be missing an index, but there has to be room for improvement). It will resize your artwork - and you can specify that it should only do so if the original is larger than the target size (great for home-made scans). And that's all without even talking about the export functions.

Buying advice: if you need all the tools which (the $30) Media Rage has on offer - and it has a truly impressive array - then that is your application of choice. For the pure and simple album artwork fanatic, it has to be Export Artwork.

Export Artwork ReviewResponsive Developer - Good Software - Version: 4.0.1, 8/3/2005 02:11PM PST

The developer is very responsive, I had a problem with 4.0 and now a couple of days and emails later, 4.0.1 is out that fixes the issue.

The product does what I need it to do (batch process folders of mp3s and existing cover images, then try to find any missing ones via Amazon). It does the searching with as much as accuracy as you can expect (it all depends on the quality of your tagging - Garbage In Garbage Out) and within the limits of what the Amazon have catalogued. What more can you ask for?

And all for $10, you can't get any more reasonable than that...

Works as promised. Threw 6,600 iTunes tracks and it (it ran well in the background for a few hours) found and imported better than 80% of them with very good accuracy. Well worth the $.

Export Artwork ReviewMea Culpa... disregard previous post - Version: 4.0.0b1, 5/3/2005 03:14AM PST

I apologize for my angry email... but from the three applications that came out with upgrades charging users merely to run under 10.4 Export Artwork is actuallly the only one that still works with my version 3 registration number. Tried again following a reply from the developer on my previous post and I guess I made a mistake when entering the serial. It all works fine now.

However, this does not change my opinion on Export Artwork per se... it does a good job at finding artwork, however, only if you do it manually and have tagged your songs correctly using iEatBrainz. To really stand out among the crowd that’s doing the same service, ie. retrieving artwork from Amazon, this little application needs to come up with the goods.

Export Artwork ReviewWARNING!!! Hidden Upgrade needs NEW Registration! - Version: 4.0.0b1, 5/2/2005 06:37PM PST

It makes me furious to see developers come to the fore with “new version” following the introduction of a new OS. Even more so, when it does not clearly say that a new registration number is needed, when the old version is pulled from the site, and when the “new version” does not feature any of the improvements suggested to the author... nor any other significant improvement for that matter.
I purchased Export Artwork 3 when I got disappointed with MPFreaker. It does a good job of finding artwork, if you do it manually. However, I still need FREEWARE iEatBrainz to get things going and correct tags. Personally, I won’t register Export Artwork 4 nor any other program of this developer. I support those who value customer relationships (like Lemkesoft for example who is continuously improving the terrific GraphicConverter without charging for each upgrade). As for my loss of version 3... I phoned a friend who hadn’t yet “upgraded.”

You get a message that it won't work with 10.4.
So, need to wait for an update.
