RadioLover ReviewNice App - Version: 1.6 build 83, 3/18/2007 07:35AM PST

This is just what I needed to record those USA radio shows such as KNAC! I can set up the timer and let it do it's stuff!

A word of warning however...if you are using it with a Mac laoptop you may find that it will not wake from sleep UNLESS you put it to sleep with the lid slightly open! If you close the lid of your Mac to send the Mac to sleep, chances are, it will not wake up to record! I found this out after a while! I have an iBook.

other than that, its a great app, lots of options and perfect for me!
Oh and not bad support either!

Even tho the interface is quirky, radiolover works effeciently once you get the hang of it. The main draw of this application is the fact that you can record lots of stations concurrently. If you are doing one thing at a time you can get better control with the other two apps - audio hijack and wiretap.

1. drag a few radio stations from itunes onto the main window. This is what hung me up for awhile.
2. click the listen icon on a station to determine when you want to start recording.
3. click the start recording to begin recording a station. Radio lover then tells itunes to open a stream. This stream will work independent of what you may be listening to in itunes.
4. Start as many recording streams as you want up the limit of six or whatever it is.
5. Listen in to the stations you are recording either from Radio lover's interface or from itunes. The listen icon is a toggle and seems to get confused, but it works fine dispite it's appearance

I have a folder of radio stations in itunes that I use so I can switch between itunes and radio lover to keep track of what's going on.

Radio lover is pretty good at spliting tracks if the radio station sends the data. Some stations don't so with those you end up with one long recording. I use mp3 trimmer to go clean them up as well as the DJ and commercial junk that gets added to split tracks.

Don't listen to these guys. It's simple to use. See my feedback to "no cigar" below. Works flawlessly for me on Panther and Tiger. I actually recorded one stream continusously for 3 days at the edge of my then 11Mbs wireless network's range. No crashes. No issues. No having to set up "everything perfectly". I just use the default settings. Simple.

They're on to something here, but haven't quite got it.

Two major complaints:
1: This software is NOT easy to use. It took me several hours to figure it out. It's not intuitive at all.

2: This software doesn't "want to work". If everything is not set PERFECTLY, it won't work. It's been three weeks and I've still not been sucussful in recording my weekly radio show. Granted, the reason it's not been working is my own fault, (the last failure is because iTunes wasn't open, I think), but software like this shouldn't be that pickey!

I wish I hadn't thrown away my $15 on this software.

Played with it for about 15 min and could not figure out how to get it to work. It went in the trash. I don't have much patience for software that does not have an intuitive interface.

RadioLover ReviewHow about AOL Radio - Version: 1.4 (78), 12/10/2005 02:38AM PST

Bernd M. Traber
Great piece of Software, does what is says and well worth the 15 Bucks.
It would be cool to include AOL Radio Streams into the programm. AOL Radio offers XM radio for free on the Mac and it would be great to get a hold on these streams.

"RadioLover, StreamRipperX, StreamRipper - Version: 1.13, 5/22/2003 08:31PM PST
Bitcartel Support (Bitcartel): Hi Alex,

RadioLover is a completely new piece of software. Over time, AppleScript support will be added so users can integrate with other apps via scripting. The old StreamRipperX still works, and still exists, but RadioLover is superior in many ways.

I released SRX under the GPL so it will (always) be available at SourceForge.net. It's relation to SR the command-line tool, is that the original SR libraries were used in SRX.

Originally I planned to not change the name, but in the end I decided it was better to use the name RadioLover, and to distinguish between the two.

Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, just write to: support@bitcartel.com."

Nice Try - what about changing the name because the old app had a bad image??? I want to know if the free Version of this app had anything to do with spyware - and if not why id did connect via curl to an 3rd party (besides the apple Server) IP adress!
How can I trust your company again without knowing what went wrong some time ago.

This version screwed up all my smartplaylists. Now the streamming does not show Artist, Album nor Genre !!.

I am talking about the same streams which i used before, not new ones.

Developers need to look into this Fast
