DSP-Quattro ReviewA great audio editor, but.... - Version: 2.1.2, 5/29/2006 03:05PM PST

No universal binary. No word in their website or anything. I ended up diving into Peak because I wanted to use my shiny new Macbook Pro. It's a shame. It's a great product. It's the only audio editor on Mac that approached the usability of Sound Forge, the only app I miss from the windows world.

DSP-Quattro ReviewThe best little multi-purpose audio program out there. - Version: 2.1.1, 6/12/2005 03:31AM PST

This program is excellent under OS X, whether hosting AUs or VSTs, or mastering and burning CDs.
My main purpose is to use it as a VSTi host under OS 9 on my second computer, which must be in 9 because it also houses my Korg Oasys card which can't use X.
This program is one of the few inexpensive things left to host multiple VSTi plugins under 9. I wish it had multiple ASIO output routings instead of just stereo out, but come to think of it, I don't think I've ever asked if they can implement that.
The developers have always treated me like an old friend the few times I have written with a question or comment.
The demo is quite nice for evaluation purposes and doesn't beep at you ever five seconds or quit on you after 10 minutes.

DSP-Quattro ReviewHidden Gem - Version: 2.0.2, 5/2/2005 06:00PM PST

This is one of those "hidden gems" that is less popular than other programs but is as good as or better than them in many, many ways, and is MUCH less expensive. Comparing this to many of the shareware programs isn't fair because most of them are just toys or stripped-down programs that are OK for occasional and strictly-amateur use. DSP-Quattro plays with the big boys. And, amazingly, DSP-Quattro is just about the only program that correctly draws a waveform! Seriously--try zooming in and out on any waveform (for maximum fun, use a sine wave) using, say, Peak, and watch how the frequency apparently changes depending on zoom level! This is just one of many, many things that DSP-Quattro gets right. Highly recommended.
