I fully agree that it is a shame this currently does not work on 10.1, but there is a show-stopper bug on those versions of MacOS with the way applications are run that we cannot seem to work around. Everyone is invited to visit the MacPython website, read about the problem and suggest solutions!
Also, note that except for the IDE and Package Manager everything works on 10.1. And MacPython-OS9 works fine there too.

Shame it's not for the MAJORITY of OS X users! - Version: 2.3, 8/2/2003 08:42PM PST

It's too bad that 86% of Mac OS X (10.0 and 10.1.x) users won't be able to use this app. Developers need to wake up to the fact (Gartners DataQuest report) that the majority of Mac owners are NOT using 10.2!

Yet another release of MacPython, close on the heels of the main Python release. I so appreciate these Mac releases. The IDE is nice, especially in the pre-OS X world. As for Python, it's highly efficient, easy to learn, and does just about everything.
This is both Unix and Mac OS Python - Version: 2.3b2, 7/22/2003 07:14PM PST

To Aranor (TildeSoft)--The answer is yes; this installation makes available both Unix command line Python and the wonderful IDE that was part of the OS 9 version. The reason that this is special is related to how Apple handles frameworks--this installs the framework build aka Mach-0 build of Python 2.3b along with the command line tool and the IDE. There is also a Python (and Mac) package manager for installing Python add-ons as well as the other IDE, IDLE, common on other platforms (you'll like the Mac IDE better).
well if developers din't support 10.2 or 10.3 people would never upgrade would they ?
to put it simply everything sucks before 10.2.
especially for developers
