CSSEdit ReviewNice but Dead - Version: 2.6, 6/4/2009 10:43AM PST

I used to use this almost daily but it was one of those things I begrudged. It's like 90% there but the final few bugs that need fixing make it infuriating to use. For instance, after you save your work, you need to "override and edit" each CSS file in order to work in CSSEdit again. It's very much like closing and reopening CSSEdit after every save, which makes for an awkward workflow.

The developer hasn't released any updates since 2007 (shortly after my purchase) and doesn't respond to emails. I waited two months after emailing before posting this.

Frankly, I don't like the idea of someone who will take money then drop support for the product. S/he should start providing updates, make the code open source or give refunds.

Unfortunately, I have recommended CSSEdit in the past to people who bought it but I can't any longer and now suggest a text editor, like TextMate, which is what I use now.

This app is nice eye candy but unless you are gifted with finely honed intuition, there is no support guide for this product.

Nor do the developers respond to requests for support.

I've downloaded and re-installed twice. The help button does not function.

I own 178 applications and this is the first time a developer has completely ignored my requests for contact.

A few comments back, I noted that, while still very happy with this app, the only thing it was missing was the fact that changes made in another application would not be reflected in CSSEdit. Now it does, and I'm very pleased!

Excellent!

Note--I've never seen any CPU related issues as mentioned below. Currently running along side Dreamweaver CS3 and TextMate on OS 10.5 Intel.
