iBank Troubleshooting Reportseveral problems still exist with iBank!! - Version: 3.5.2, 8/29/2009 06:52PM PST

eliasversion
I have reported bugs in handling multi currency for more then a year now with no action whatsoever. iBank has numerous bugs still. Upgrading to 10.6 iBank stopped memorizing my datafile and I have to search for it every time I launch the application!! I reported this bug to iBank staff and they informed me that 3.5.2 should do the job. Well it did not!!

I hate the data input in iBank. It is very very very very slow. I reported this one year ago and of course nothing happened.

iBank is not serious about fixing their bugs and I do not recommend this application before they get their act together and come up with less buggy product.

I really want to like this product but all the bugs and multi currency problems I am seriously searching for an alternative.

Big bug with this new version. By registering a new entry based which includes the data in the memory of transactions, not change the amount. This causes serious mistakes before and gives false results. I wrote to support but no answer! I have no problem with the previous version 3.4.2 which works very well.

iBank ReviewI've had it with iBank - Version: 3.4.2, 6/24/2009 09:02AM PST

After two years of frustration with the user interface, I've given up and switched to MoneyDance. The changes to the way iBank reconciles bank statements make it unusable, as well as messing up all my old - already reconciled statements, which then had to be re-reconciled.
It is virtually impossible to create a split transaction reliably. iBank insists on adding balancing splits which are not only not needed, but which go in the wrong direction, causing the app to add yet another balancing transaction.
The reporting and graphing functions are buggy and arcane - and I've never been able to produce a usable budget. And why on earth is it so difficult to produce a report which shows income and expenditure by category - you have to do it using the graphing tool!
They seem more concerned with adding "cool" features like the ridiculous Cover Flow view than they are with creating an application which actually works.

After a couple of weeks, MoneyDance seems to have fewer "features" but the ones it has actually work.

iBank ReviewGreat Alternative to Quicken for Mac - Version: 3.4.2, 6/1/2009 12:26PM PST

Except for a few minor quibbles, I switched to this program from Quicken 2005, which Intuit no longer supports. I had little trouble importing my Quicken data and my online account data. It takes a short while to get use to the differences, but now that I have, I am very pleased with the program. Integration with iPhone works well. A great entry into the Mac only program genre.

iBank ReviewBye Bye Quicken - Hello iBank - Great Alternative to Quicken - Version: 3.4.2, 4/29/2009 04:37AM PST

I have been using the program for over a month now, it is a great alternative to quicken. The software developer seems to always be fixing any issues that may show up (unlike Intuit). It is a fantastic program for tracking expenses and your portfolio.

iBank CommentaryThis is not right! NOT for TIGER! - Version: 3.3.2, 1/17/2009 07:58PM PST

I was so ready to use iBank but it is not for us Tiger users.
I know so many Tiger users that would get this if Tiger was one of the requirements.
So it is Moneydance for now.
Don't want to get a new computer to use iBank and other programs that won't make a Tiger version.

I got off the Quicken train ride in July of last year and have been using this program since.

I have not had any (major) problems with it probably because I did not bother to import the records from Quicken. I started fresh.

I really like the interface compared to Quicken's that have not changed in years.

iBank ReviewI really, really want to like this program! - Version: 3.3, 10/26/2008 09:12AM PST

I've downloaded it, messed with it and I like the way it looks. I also want to get off the Quicken train ride. But with all the comments here and elsewhere about bugs I'm real hesitant about going through all the gyrations to import my Quicken data.
I hope the reviews reflect continued improvement and less bugginess.

iBank ReviewStill too many shortcomings - Version: 3.1, 7/2/2008 08:06PM PST

I've tried really hard to like this app but I continually found frustration in using even the most basic functions, so annoying in fact that I've given up and am going back to Quicken. I might add that this is my 2nd attempt to migrate to iBank so I've given it a serious go. The app looks great and the iPhone functionality is fantastic, in fact it was the driving factor in me giving the software another go, but the assorted bugs, flaky widget, forced mouse input, horrible reconciliation method and lack of the ability to do even some basic functions make it's use too much of a compromise for my needs. At version 3 I would expect better. I hope that it improves & will take another look at v4 or 5.
