HP LaserJet Review1220 working - CPU hog? - Version: 5.9.5, 6/6/2004 11:29PM PST

HP's hardware is outstanding. Their software on both the Wintel and Mac platforms is terrible. On the Mac is it late, buggy, and poorly written. This version of AIO software does work (running 10.3.4) for me. It has not crashed and all functions on my machine are working normally. The interface and overall design is worse than a lot of freeware, but since it is functioning, it's not a "1 star" in my view. I'd like to pose a question to anyone who may know: When I launch the Task Manager, "HP Communications" takes 9 threads and shows CPU use. Does anyone know if it's enough of a memory hog to affect system performance?

HP LaserJet CommentaryDisastrous - Version: 5.9.5, 6/3/2004 02:33PM PST

I was looking forward to finally being able to use my HP 3200m all-in-one's features without going to Classic. (G4 tower, 10.3.4 installed). I removed the old software, installed the Help file and then the software as instructed, and then...for the first time since I bought the printer, it crashed. Uninstalled and tried again...crashed. Used Printer Setup Repair, and it worked for 4 jobs, then crashed. Various errors: not enough memory; some font error; etc. I ahve lost a day's work because of this software.
