DVD2oneX ReviewWorth every penny! - Version: 2.4.0, 9/2/2009 07:01AM PST

This is a very well designed app. Often dont need any thing else to Rip/Burn.
Combined with the excellent Mac DVD Ripper Pro you got it all covered.

DVD2oneX ReviewDoesn't work... - Version: 2.3.1, 5/5/2009 01:00AM PST

Failed on the 1st disk that I tried to rip.
The only thing that used to work, was MacTheRipper. And it was free. Nothing comes close.
The search for something that works... continues...

DVD2oneX Troubleshooting Reportversion numbers? - Version: 2.2.2, 8/30/2008 10:52AM PST

I downloaded the latest version from VersionTracker, but the version numbers are confused.

The About Box within the application says version 2.2.2.

The Info.plist file in the package has CFBundleVersion 2.2.1.

The Get Info window in the Finder shows no version at all.

And VersionTracker keeps telling me that I have version 2.2.1 and I need to download the latest version.

Well, I may be wrong in a way - correct me if I am:

1. If I insert a DVD with no enough room on it to copy the source, it scans the disk, source, etc and at the end bombs saying there is not enough space on the DVD to burn calling me to start over all the process that is wasted.

2. If I try to burn a DVD but the process got aborted half-way due to no space on the DVD (image file created by this time), and I insert another DVD, there is no way to just burn the already created image file to the DVD. I have to start over the process again! This happens even if there already is an image file and I have no way of burning multiple copies from old image files. Common, the data/image file is already created and all we need to do is just burn it to the DVD instead of re-creating the file. Provide another option to burn from an image file?

3. If the source is located on the hard disk, is there any way to directly burn the output to the DVD without creating the intermediate image file? Or, can there be an option to auto-delete the image file on successful burning of the DVD? These image files are as large as the DVD (upto 4.4 GB) and users may forget to manually delete them to recover the lost space!!

Thanks!

DVD2oneX ReviewWhat DVD2oneX is - Version: 2.2.1, 4/27/2008 09:25AM PST

DVD2oneX does need an application like Mac the Ripper.

Here is what it is not:

A program to rip files to quicktime or ipod format for playing on your computer. Use HandBreak for this.

Here is what it IS FOR!

After decrypting with Mac the Ripper you can make a complete duplicate of a DVD with just the movie or all the menus and special features and either save it to an image file for later playing on DVD player or burning it back to a DVD. It compressed Dual Layer discs to single layer discs very quickly and the quality is unmatched. You see very little loss and save 2-4 gig of space. All the discs I have for mobile use or those that go to children are thanks to DVD2oneX. My originals are safe in there boxes amongst my collection- no scratches no worries. I've used this program since version 1 and it just keeps getting better. It even supports XGrid!

What has DVD2oneX got that Handbrake doesn't? Or DVDRemaster or VisualHub?

It still requires MacTheRipper doesn't it?

Is it faster, better quality, more reliable?

I'd like to commend the developer for releasing this bug fix within literally a couple days.
This new release (2.2.1) seems to have fixed the crash upon launch problem I was experiencing.

Went from 2.1.4 on a G5 dual 2GHz with 2.5G RAM 10.4.11 OS. No freezes or crashes. Sucessfully compressed several movies. Playback is fine under DVD player.

Possible Leopard/Intel issue?

I had to remove this and revert to 2.1. The app wouldn't launch, or rather would quit as soon as it opened. Repairing permissions and restarting did no good.
There is obviously a severe bug here somewhere, as it appears that a lot of others are experiencing the same thing.
MacBook Pro 2.2GHz, 2GB RAM.
