Product Description:

CrystalFire Wormhole allows you to move files with drag-and-drop simplicity. It allows file transfer between Mac and Mac, Windows and Windows, or Mac and Windows. Requires no configuration at all on small LANS; Wormhole will automatically detect and connect to other copies of itself. Larger LANs or Internet transfers require a single "connection" step. Can also copy the (text) clipboard from one machine to another.

What's new in this version:

2.4.0 is mostly a Leopard (Mac OS 10.5) compatibility release, recommended for everyone using any version of 2.0
  • Wormhole will now work more reliably when launched at startup on Mac OS X Tiger and Leopard.
  • When Wormhole fails to connect, it will tell you what address it was trying to connect to.
  • A few command-line options are available for using Wormhole from a command line. Contact us for details.
  • Wormhole is now more tolerant of file system errors (and will provide better messages for them).

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.5 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.4 Intel

CrystalFire Wormhole CommentaryPlease give it a slicker interface. - Version: 1.2.4, 12/13/2004 02:06PM PST

It's cool - don't get me wrong - but it really needs a totally seamless interface - like it's part of the OS. Possibly a "hot zone" without borders on the desktop which files can be dragged onto? Would be nice.

Totally works. I'm amazed and thrilled. Any bets on how long it will be before Apple integrates it into the MacOS?

I'm a knowledgeable Mac user and Windows novice who got a PC to run some Windows only software which was lame on Virtual PC. I spent two hours trying to set up file sharing between the two only to find myself repeating steps over and over to no avail. (I've set up file sharing among my 4 Macs so I'm familiar with small networking a bit.) In frustration, I started looking for answers on the Apple Discussions and Mac OS X Hints forums. CrystalFire Wormhole was mentioned in a OS X Hints thread. I tried the demo, had it installed on both computers, running and transferring files from desktop to desktop in minutes. Its worth every penny!
