Product Description:

FolderControl automatically sets up, sizes and arranges your Finder's folder windows using settings for configurations you want.

FolderControl provides preference sets so you can easily use different preference configurations, each of which gives you control over:
  • which folders participate in the processing
  • how folder windows are sized, both vertically and horizontally
  • how sub-folder windows are arranged, relative to their enclosing folder
  • how various folder-window attributes, such as sorting and view kind, are set
  • the permissions on the files that control these capabilities
FolderControl has the most popular setup configurations pre-defined which many users use without any further configuration. For the technically inclined, FolderControl supports user-created AppleScript plug-ins.

What's new in this version:

  • multiple changes required by Mac OS X 10.4/Tiger
  • 10.4 icon size/spacing is now supported
  • some bug fixes

FolderControl ReviewFollow up: will not reissue license to original owner - Version: 1.60, 1/10/2007 04:19PM PST

Only bad experiences with this developer.

He took the product off the market to avoid issuing me with an up to date license via Kagi.

Weeks of hassling over email to try to get a license out of him. Only when given strict instructions by Kagi to issue me - the original owner - with a replacement license, did he do so. But he took the update off the market so I couldn't have a working version of the product.

An example of a developer so paranoid and unpleasant that he gives shareware a bad name. To avoid at all costs.

I buy bushels of shareware and donate to a lot of donationware and freeware. I've never seen anything like this paronoiac.

FolderControl Reviewvery painful licensing - Version: 1.60, 10/18/2006 04:33AM PST

This is a little script to do what Neatnik used to do much better and with less trouble under OS 9. It's expensive for what it is in the first place and Derman burn you for update fees and relicensing hassle between OS X versions just for bug fixes.

Worst of all the licensing is so painful and time-consuming and invasive (we can just put up with it Photoshop or Adobe Suite as it is a core applicationi) that if shareware creators went down this path - people would just stop using shareware.

Same thing applies to upgrade licensing.

Really if you value your time stay away from this dud.

There is a much less troublesome and much cheaper ($10) set of scripts called <a href="http://homepage.mac.com/jonn8/fwm/"> Finder Window Manager</a>. ***** from versiontracker users.

Very user friendly, unlike FolderControl. Stay away.
