JPEG 2000 Dropper CommentaryJ2K important for medical imaging - Version: 1.1, 12/1/2003 06:58AM PST

We're buying a $150,000 digital microscopy solution that is fully dependent on J2K to handle what would otherwise be 6 GB images over a network. Part of that price is an $8000 license for a browser-type client that can view and scroll through the images as if scrolling a microscope. Yes, there is demand for it, and also demand for better SW products that allow us to serve, view, and manipulate the images.
