Product Description:

FootTrack is iPhoto for your digital video. Catalog all your analog and digital video tapes, then easily find the clips you want. Capture and compress your footage to be able to permanently store your footage on your hard drive.

Whether you are planning a movie or just want to show someone some footage you taped, FootTrack makes it easy to find and keep track of all your footage.

This app will help any iMovie/Final Cut user find the clips they want when they are putting together a potential movie.

A non-time limited demo is available for download.

What's new in this version:

Version 2.3.1:
  • Fixed a bug that only affected PAL footage and was introduced in the last version. Imported clips (already on the hard drive) were not split by the DV start/stop marks because the timecode and date recorded for the clips was not being read properly.
  • Added a new menu item for re-reading DV clip metadata. You can use this to fix clips that were affected by the bug above.
  • Fixed a bug where spotlight was not finding the keywords assigned to clips. When you install the new version it will re-index your clips so searching by keywords will work properly.
  • Fixed a bug where you could drag a parent keyword and drop it into its list of children.
  • Fixed an issue where changing the tape name would take longer than it should.
  • Fixed a bug that affected some of the non-English localizations. The capture window would not display the clips that were being captured even though they were being captured properly.
  • Fixed a FCP XML export bug where clips could not be recaptured after being imported in Final Cut Pro or Express HD.
  • Fixed a FCP XML export bug that showed up if any of the fields contained accented characters.

FootTrack ReviewUseless, don't waste your money - Version: 2.4, 11/14/2008 01:44PM PST

Alansworld
It stopped working at the beginning of this year when a new version of QuickTime was released. The problem was broken and/or very low quality video clip thumbnails. In spite of repeated complaints to the company's support email, most of which have gone unanswered, there is still no fix, and the version remain s at 2.4. At present the software is unuseable. Walk away.

Truth w Christ
This is really an excellent application for Video "Clip" management.
The only thing I am waiting for is HDV 1080i compatability.
I own the Sony HDR HC7 and have Tapes piling up waiting for Foottrack to get an update for HDV! Please Hurry!

Highly Recommended.

I have been using FootTrack for some months now, and it just works perfect. It is very nice to have small versions of my whole movies/tapes in mini-format on my HD and they don't take much space. I hardly ever watch the full-size video's anymore anyway.
Browsing is easy like in iPhoto, and it supports smart-album alike tapes.
Very well thought application; only thing missing is compression while capturing (without having to import the full-sized movie).
Keep up the good work!
