Firefox ReviewStill Annoying - Version: 3.0.3, 11/11/2008 06:51PM PST

Firefox 3.0.3 is far better at rendering HTML and CSS than its predecessors, but it still doesn't integrate well with Mac OS X. It's faster than ever and has more features, but it's still annoyingly clunky. Unless you need or want to use Firefox addons, <rhetorical)Why bother?</rhetorical> The word "feh" comes to mind.

Firefox CommentaryMacOS X System fonts "Gill Sans Light" & "Helvetica Neue Light" - Version: 3.0.3, 10/25/2008 06:52AM PST

Hello,

I could not manage Firefox 3.0.3 to display the font face "Gill Sans Light" which I have correctly specified in my css properties.

e.g.

.headline { font-size: 72px; font-family: "Gill Sans Light", "Gill Sans", Helvetica, Arial, Sans-Serif; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; }

This doesn't seem to work neither in Apple Safari. Has anyone a clue how to fix this?

graphically & sincerely,

Marc Klein

Still a few bugs, but overall an awesome product. Thanks Mozilla team! I used to use Camino, but with this version, I don't see many advantages with Camino anymore.

Firefox CommentarySucks CPU cycles; Runs Hot - Version: 3.0.3, 9/27/2008 08:13AM PST

I won't switch to V3 until they correct the defect that causes it to peg the CPU on PPC machines. It consumes all available cycles, even if no FF windows are open. As a result, it makes my PowerBook run hot, and drains the battery quickly.

As soon as I downloaded Firefox 3.0, I lost my Delicious tags as well as all my Password1 information and links. I thought these would soon be fixed in an update, but they are NOT!! These are essentials. Please create an update that addresses these!
Thanks

All version 3 are bad, even the look is so bad. I don't find that is any faster or better at all.

Anyone who wants to use FireFox, use the Version 2. The latest version 2 is 2.0.0.17

Broken applescript support in FF3 made it incompatible with several URL managers. Any idea if it has been fixed yet?

Firefox Reviewstill broken for google maps - Version: 3.0.2, 9/24/2008 11:37AM PST

Contextual menu doesn't work. You HAVE to use the control key, you cannot double finger (for laptops with trackpad) or right click (with mouses that support it) for control clicking like you could in FF2.

Broken since 3.0.0

Firefox CommentaryMacOS X System fonts "Helvetica" vs. "Helvetica Neue" - Version: 3.0.2, 9/24/2008 08:35AM PST

Hello,

I was wondering why the display of some MacOS X system fonts are that different under Firefox 3.x compared to Firefox 2.x

I have made some tests using the system font "Helvetica" and "Helvetica Neue" in my css file.

e.g.

<b>Bold</b> Text
<strong>Bold</strong> Text

When I specify the font "Helvetica" in my css file, I can clearly see the difference between the "Bold" and the "Regular" typeface.

However, if I am using the system font "Helvetica Neue", I can hardly distinguish between a "Bold" from a "Regular" typeface. The "Bold" typeface looks very similar to a "Regular" typeface.

Since "Helvetica Neue" is the more familiar font since the introduction of MacOS X, I was wondering, why the Mozilla developers have "introduced" these changes in their recent browser releases.

Firefox CommentaryDisc image won't mount - Version: 3.0.2, 9/24/2008 06:30AM PST

Succesfully downloaded 3.0.2 but the image won't mount. Nothing happens when I double click on the .dmg file or when I nominate DiskImageMounter to use.

Tried another complete download with the same result.

Using FireFox 3.0.1 and not had any problems like this.
