The download is for a Classic installer, which starts, looks, sees Classic, and says 'This updater requires 10.3.2 or above which is not installed on your system.'
We're running Tiger. Have reported this to Avid.

For some reason, the page for this product is not up-to-date. The current version is version 4.1.1, there never was a version 1.0: Xpress Pro was first released as a version 4.0. 4.1.1 brings Panther compatibility, but only for Dual 2Ghz G5, don't ask me why single chip machines are not supported.
It's not a bad software, it's just a bit of a dinosaur (the interface) but it does its job - frequent crashes though.
To dl the latest version, you'll have to go to http://www.avid.com/products/xpresspro/index.asp and to look for the download link at the bottom of the page.

Because:
i) The upgrade price is only $29. Avid's business model is clearly 'once you have paid to become one of our customers, we will look after you'. This is hugely refreshing after costly upgrades to QuarkXpress, Dreamweaver Studio, Adobe CS, etc.
ii) It runs better on my Powerbook G4 than the previous version. Particularly, having moved up to Tiger, I was no longer able to run an external HD and the Video Camera (DVCam) through firewire. The system was too slow. The new version works putting the media onto external HD without any problems. Magnificent
iii) Still supports PowerBooks! The new version has got lots of new features (which I haven't really explored yet, as I'm mainly interested in the core features). Most other kinds of software demand a whizzier machine with each upgrade. Avid can be very snooty about 'Qualified' computers, but when they say that a machine will work, it really does work.
