If you option-click the volume icon in the menu bar in Snow Leopard you can select audio input/output.

It does exactly what it is supposed to do, it is solid and intuitive. What more could I ask?

You must have OSX 10.5.x to get the Volume sliders.
In other words, NO Intel, NO sliders.

Thanks for creating SoundSource, it's a must have for everyone using USB audio.
One nice to have feature: automatically switch to an interface when it's plugged in, much like the Mac Pro thing.

I Agree, Rogue Amoeba Software deserves kudos for creating and continuing to support and improve SoundSource. It's one of the most useful, and used, items in my menu bar. The addition of audio sliders is a great idea. I have a set of computer speakers plugged into the audio-out port on my Mac Pro and I use a PowerWaive USB audio device (no longer available, unfortunately) from Griffin Technologies to connect a set of Bose Headphones (to translate the USB digital audio signal to analogue for the headphones). This means I don't have to reach down and fumble for the headphone port on the front of my Mac Pro - which sits on the floor beneath my desk. Sometimes the PowerWaive will stop working; this is a nuisance, but having SoundSource in the menu bar makes it easy to find the problem (usually unplugging and re-connecting the USB cable will enable the computer to see the PW again). Thank you Rogue Amoeba for this little gem (they make other good stuff as well).

I can't believe this is actually free. I just bought a mic/headset (USB) and was troubled by what a problem it was to go through the steps required to play through the headphones and then switch to the external speakers. This little app puts everything in my menu bar and even let's me set it up so the speakers are my default...but when I plug in the USB headset it automatically switches for me. Love this product.

I'd have left this below, but the software won't let me.
The link to 2.0 is fixed.

Worth every pixel of menu bar space;
recommended without reservation.
Thanks, RA!
