joinPDF ReviewWhy .sit? - Version: 2.3.1, 5/25/2009 12:17AM PST

robert.stresing1
Why does it come as a .sit-file? I have no idea how to open this. It seems I would need a commercial software to open it. Is there no way to make it a little more simple for people who are not computer experts, but just want to use a program? Or is there any commercial interest behind using such formats? Or - last question - am I just too stupid and everybody should know how to open this file?

joinPDF Troubleshooting ReportError when joining files - Version: 2.3.1, 9/17/2008 03:37PM PST

dennis.bork
Hi all, maybe somebody can help me out.

If I do a "joinPDF ./complete.pdf *.pdf", it starts to work on several PDF files, but after a while I get an error message like this:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
at com.lowagie.text.pdf.ByteBuffer.toByteArray(Unknown Source)
at com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfName.(Unknown Source)
at com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfReader.readDictionary(Unknown Source)

at com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfReader.(Unknown Source)
at Concat.(Concat.java:94)
at Concat.main(Concat.java:70)

and joinPDF exits ... the resulting PDF file is unreadable.

Can anybody tell me what to do?

Mac OS X 10.5.5 is up to date.
Java version is 1.5.0_13

Cheers Dennis

joinPDF ReviewWhere do I send the beverage of your choice? - Version: 2.3.1, 7/14/2006 09:38AM PST

Lee Taylor
Since it's freeware, I can't send money -- so where so I send your beverage?

I have a database where I merge records with a PDF file. The process used to be about 2 weeks per year to dump all the data and merge the files. Now I'm done in less than 15 minutes. Not sure what is different between this and GhostScript but where I used to have problems with some fonts with GhostScript, JoinPDF doesn't.

The ONLY problem I've had is probably related to Java or the terminal... I've found that it doesn't like - or () in file names. I'll have to modify my script to change the file names before merging.

...such as Applescript and separate GUI frontend utility that developer states as included in .sit archive. Only the joinPDF installer is unstuffed, nothing more.

joinPDF Reviewdrag and drop version for spliting files ? - Version: 2.2, 6/17/2005 12:04PM PST

Antoine Leygonie
Perfect tool. I use it very often for spliting pdf files on OS X10.3
Please, would you develop a drag and drop version, instead of having to use terminal ? Then it would be even more perfect.

i dl'd this app last night to my Mac OS 10.2.8 iBook w/ 600 mHz G3 and no added memory - dl was fast via airport dsl. the unstuffed package opened the gui app pdfjoiner but didn't unpack the joinPDF2.1.pkg. after doubleclicking and installing this package - voila! how charming - works without a hitch! merged my enormous docs without affecting format, flipping/rotating pages, etc!

lifesaver!!
