Product Description:

PowerController allows you to schedule an unlimited number of events which will wake your computer from sleep, play an iTunes alarm (which will wake your computer from sleep if necessary), or put your computer to sleep.

PowerController is mainly meant to be used as an iTunes alarm clock. There are a lot of alarm clock programs out there, but PowerController has the following advantages over the competition:
  • Wakes your computer from sleep
  • Integrated with iTunes
  • iTunes alarms can play any playlist you have created in iTunes
  • iTunes alarms can set the initial system volume and iTunes volume
  • iTunes alarms can have a gradually increasing volume
  • PowerController can shut off your alarm if you don't dismiss it after a designated time period (so that your neighbors don't call the police when you go away for the long weekend)
  • You may schedule an infinite number of events
  • PowerController runs in the background -- you don't have to have an app hogging Dock space
  • You don't have to enter an administrative password every time you want to set an alarm
  • Snooze feature
  • A status item may be kept in your menu bar for easy access to info about scheduled events
  • Free, unrestricted 30 day trial

What's new in this version:

  • Snooze duration is customizable for each iTunes alarm.
  • iTunes alarms may be "snoozed" by pressing any non-modifier key on the keyboard.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.3.4 or higher

PowerController ReviewNew version doesn't correct bugs - Version: 2.1.3, 11/13/2007 12:08AM PST

pandion77
In an attempt to get the program to respond correctly, I ran the uninstall on my registered copy of version 2.1.1. I then installed version 2.1.3 hoping it would solve the bugs. Not only did it not correct the issues but it didn't perforn a complete uninstall as it still associates to an older iTunes library that no longer exists.

Issues:
1. Doesn't wake my computer
2. Doesn't recognize my new iTunes library even though the previous one has been deleted.
3. Developer is unresponsive to emails & Version Tracker feedback.

Don't waste your money.

PowerController ReviewDeveloper doesn't respond: Won't wake my computer - Version: 2.1.1, 3/7/2007 03:26PM PST

The program won't wake my computer consistently. I reset my permissions using OnyX, restarted, opened only iTunes and it still won't wake my computer. As soon as I hit the spacebar--no matter how long past the alarm time--Powercontroller will open the script and play the playlist.

When I change just the alarm time in the script and then put my computer to sleep Powercontroller works fine, waking my computer, opening the script and starting the playlist.

I'm stumped. I've asked the developer to help solve this but I've gotten NO response via email or Version Tracker.
