Product Description:

KeyWebX makes HTML slideshows from Keynote and AppleWorks presentations or from images selected in iPhoto. Export your Keynote or AppleWorks presentation as PDF or QuickTime movie and KeyWebX will slice it into separate images with HTML navigation. Basically you can use any PDF file as a source. You can control size, format, and quality of images extracted from your source as well as create your own HTML templates. If you use iPhoto to store and share digital photos, use also KeyWebX to make your very own web pages with photo albums. KeyWebX also can:

  • Export your source as separate Jpeg, Png or Photoshop files.
  • Use your own handmade HTML templates.
  • Use Keynote's interactive QuickTime movies with builds and transitions - no more special preparations before making HTML slideshow.
  • Embed text notes, iPhoto comments, and prerecorded audio or video files into web pages.
  • Preview slideshows in a web browser.
  • Upload your HTML slideshow to FTP.

What's new in this version:

  • This is minor update of KeyWebX to resolve some compatibility issues with Mac OS 10.3.* Panther, recent Java updates and QuickTime. There are no changes in user interface or additional features. Included user manual from version 1.1 is absolutely equal to new version 1.2.
  • Fixed memory issues when processing very large PDF or significant amount of images from iPhoto.
  • Eliminated error message on application quit that appeared on some Panther installations.
  • Updated for use with Java 1.4.+ and QuickTime 6.5 and higher.
  • There might be some inaccuracy in processing some interactive QuickTime files from Keynote with many timed builds and transitions. Workaround: use 1 fps movies as described in user manual or remove critical Keynote builds.

KeyWebX CommentaryGreat start! - Version: 1.1, 11/25/2003 12:10PM PST

I'm a big fan of this piece of shareware. It does need a bit of smoothing here and there. Some of the instructional text, error messages, and the manual needs a bit of attention, as the language is a bit rough and confusing at times. For more mainstream acceptance, a professional writer may want to clean up many of those spots, editing for clarity and length.

I echo the request for more control over the captioning process. Also would love this to exist as a plug-in to iPhoto, similar to BetterHTML Export.

But well done overall. Well worth the shareware fee.

KeyWebX ReviewExcellent! - Version: 1.1, 8/13/2003 12:53PM PST

This is an extremely well-done and reasonably priced app. It fills a gap that I have been looking for for some time. The possibility of audio file handling is great. The template editing capability is a snap, and it just works. I've been begging Apple to put this capability straight into Keynote, and well, here it is. One thing I would love: an option to input comments directly into KeyWebX, rather than being limited to iPhoto comments when iPhoto is my source.
