...that it will drive you nuts. The scoring is completely off (the computer played the word 'WEB' and got 55 points -- I challenge anyone to get their Scrabble board out and make that mathematical combination). There's no bonus for playing all your letters (I played all of mine on the first turn, and got 14 points -- wha?!). There are the other mentioned bugs as well: mandatory picking your own tiles whether you check it or not, no points on the letters (not that they follow any consistent scoring anyway), etc. This is almost a good Beta, but hardly a shareware program. Make the scoring accurate and consistent, have an option to hide your tiles (so the opponent can't see them), and then re-release this.

Someone went to a lot of trouble to create a screen that just lays there. This has got to be the most boring game extant. How about a little player feedback, some info on the board, some input if there's only one player. Waste of time.
Nice start, long way to go - Version: 1.0, 5/7/2003 12:22PM PST

It's great to finally see a version of Scrabble (®, tm, license guaranteed in perpetuity for ever and ever to Hasbro) for OS X, this has a long way to go still. The interface is simple and very OS X, which is nice. The word list is apparently customizable although I'm not sure whether you could use a OSPD file with it or not. Drawbacks are that it deviates from the Scrabble layout (no double word score in the center, for instance, not giving any incentive to lay out a good starting word, as there are no bonuses for first turn). Also the score numbers are not on the tiles (so not sure if the scoring is the same or not, but at first it doesn't seem accurate.) FORK for example with the R on a double letter score should be 13, I think, not 12. Also, you can see the opponent's tiles, which you shouldn't be able to do. Preferences are not saved between launches. The option to auto-pick tiles does not have any effect--whether on or off you still have to click tiles from the bag after the turn. If the computer can't find a word it will pass, and there doesn't seem to be an option to draw new tiles--just to abort the game.
