works that has been done in the OpenSource community, I don't understand why companies like Epson (and HP, and...) simply don't improve the readily available drivers (hence improving the offer of the OpenSource projects) ? It would seem to me a win/win situation : for those companies, a reduction in production costs (one driver for Linuxes, Mac OS X and so forth, forever available) and, for the OpenSource community : an improvement of the codes and the solving of hard to resolve problem without access to some infos,,, OpenSource collaborative effort would also mean that no one could then say that the interface s*cks : any one could improve the interface anytime they want... once again helping everyone else. Maybe OpenSource is a too generous idea.

can also try the RIP software at . This worked well for our 7600 before the Epson driver for it came out. It's about $900 though. They also have something called iProof that works with OS X, but is not as robust as PowerRIP. Gimp-Print is good, but not fully featured for these Epson large formats yet. As far as the 'Paper Out' error, I get that alot when using individual sheets and I didn't load one before sending the job. I usually have to reset the printer before it will work again after doing that. You're right, though, it shouldn't choke on that kind of simple error.

know why so many of us are using a 3rd party print driver/RIP like ImagePrint from ColorByte. Epson should just buy em and give the driver away (or at a reduced price). Still worth every penny if it does add up to $2500 per printer.
