I've been using Jacket for a few years now, and in my mind, it's the best and most usable iTunes plug-in out there. Sure, it's not as fancy looking as JewelCase or even Front Row, but no other visualization plug-in let's you rate your songs in full screen mode.
Jacket may be basic looking, but it gives you everything you need; the CD cover enlarged to fill the screen, and artist, album and song info displayed in any font size you like. In preferences I set "Expand [CD cover] to fit window size" and "Reverse Black/White to make the background black. Then I use the font Helvetica Neue Black Condensed at 72 pt aligned to the left. That makes the best full screen view I've found.
The way I use Jacket, is using it in Full Screen mode on big screen TVs or monitors throughout my house. It's perfect to have the CD cover and song information displayed so large that you can easily see it across a big room. Then, by having a wireless bluetooth keyboard at hand, I can rate songs by pressing a number key while cooking or working out. Why no other plug-in can do this is a mystery...
My only gripe is that the Full Screen mode doesn't work properly the last year or so. I have several Macs, and have tried to find a pattern, but to no avail. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Anyway, you can still use it, as the normal mode is maybe 90% of Full Screen. However, I would be very grateful if the programmer could fix this.
Thanks for a great plug-in!

Doesn't seem to work - Version: 0.6.2, 5/10/2007 12:27PM PST

By the product description this sounds like a cool visualizer, but it doesn't seem to do anything. All I get is a blank white screen with a teeny and cryptic message in the bottom left-hand corner which says "msng"
I have high hopes that the visualizer will continue to develop into a functional addition to iTunes. It's still a pre-version 1.0 release, so no negative stars.

yeah, you're supposed to be impressed- - Version: 0.6.2, 9/27/2006 02:56PM PST

however, it does seem that Jacket is a little bit broken in iTunes 7- it still does its best to find artwork (something that the much below heralded JewelCase don't, won't, can't), but it seems like the attempt to add missed art or correct the find will not load into the window. Hoping for an update soon.

This plugin is NOTHING compared to JewelCase.
Go get that and then compare... although, it's kinda hard to even figure out where to start, since JewelCase is so much better.
Now, how do I uninstall this?

So good… that i could be even better! ;-)
Can I even change please the font size (at least) of the lyrics? Un the infos of the song files we can not change it :-( and so.. you should solve what Apple (by ever in delay with the development of iTunes!!) will introduce I hope before my death! ;-)

With my mac setup in my greatroom, this visualizer is great in full-screen mode. I can see iTunes artwork, including ablum title, song, stars, etc. It works great and has never caused a problem with iTunes. It completes iTunes! In the future, I'd love to be able to change the star rating from within the plugin...
