This version crashed my 15" Rev. B powerbook when I tried to open the preferences. Watch out for this program!

I have never once been able to make a Soulseek client work on my mac. This has been no exception. The farthest I've gotten is this message: "Connecting to sk2.slsk.org on port 2240." Forever connecting, never connected. Maybe someday?

Download, installed, cant connect. Tried again, cant connect. And again, cant connect. Really dissapointed. :-( Whats the point of releasing dodgy installers if the app. dosent work and just makes you look bad? A real shame as a fiend has it on Winows and says it the best P2P out there. SORT IT OUT!!!

SoulseekX Usage TipOpen the Ports!!! - Version: 0.2.7a, 4/27/2004 11:48AM PST

Tried the program about half a year ago and dropped back to the PC-Version under VPC because it seemed that it couldn“t establish any connection. After some port configuration on my router setup due to the installation of a game-server I gave it one more try, opening the ports that are given by default in the preferences - there it is - search function gives results. This program is far away from being optimized (needs huge amount of CPU power), but it works. The tunes you may find on the SoulSeek network are worth it anyway.

SoulseekX ReviewSeek a LITTLE harder... - Version: 0.2.7a, 8/19/2003 09:32PM PST

1) The trick of changing to Version 149 in the Prefs is abaolutely essential. You'll never get anywhere without it.
2) You can't specify folders to share. This is absurd.
3) I'm not going to comment nn the Search feature because file searching in the PC client is rarely satisfying anyway.
4) The chat rooms do not have a toggle for Auto-Join, which is really essential for getting you right into your favorite communities at logon.
5) There is no preference to share only with people on your Buddy List, which is potentially disasterous.
6) The chat window gives entrance and exit alerts, which is something the PC client does NOT do.
7) That Chat window comes only in non-adjustable, and VERY small, Times New Roman. That can be awfully hard to read.
In several attempts I could not get the file lists for some of the same people whose lists I always get when I use the PC client. This is disconcerting. I was also told that no one could get my file list from the Mac client, while at the same time they could get the file list from my concurrent PC login.

Conclusion: This might be recommendable with a lot more work to the client, but it can not be recommended now.
