What's new in this version:

  • -- Developer Edition Feature -- Added an automated 2 pass process for resolving dependencies between ScriptMaker scripts and Layout objects during Table Consolidation projects.
  • -- Developer Edition Feature -- Added a new Layout XML export feature to the GUI tab. The XML code defining each layout can now be exported as a raw XML file, containing all of the embedded images, and layout object definitions. This file can be post-processed separately and used for projects in which FileMaker Layouts need to be re-purposed for other development projects. Examining the raw XML code for a layout could also provide troubleshooting help for layouts causing a problem in a database file.
  • -- Developer Edition Feature -- Fixed an issue with the Step 5 Remap Objects processing when performing a Table Consolidation project having 0 ScriptMaker scripts.
  • Fixed an issue with Access tablenames containing spaces when performing Access to FileMaker conversions.
  • Fixed an issue with Relationship Predicate Details fields not being displayed when clicking on a Relationship Predicate in the Predicates List.
  • Removed the UNIQUE constraint on Layout names, allowing developers to manually rename Layouts after importing multiple batches of layouts from different files.
  • -- Developer Edition Feature -- Layouts which are created via the batch mode processing are now created with only a Body layout part, to simplify the manual addition of more layout parts. This change was made within the QuicKeys and WinAutomation shortcuts.
  • -- Developer Edition Feature -- Relationship creation has been improved by checking for the display of the Edit Relationship dialog in situations requiring the FileMaker database to create a new renamed TO on the relationship graph. This change was made within the QuicKeys and WinAutomation shortcuts.
  • Note: Clicking the "Download" button on the batch processing dialogs causes FmPro Migrator to save an updated copy of the QuicKeys/WinAutomation shortcuts to the output directory.

Recent job assignments require that I interface with MS Access, and I had high hopes that FmPro Migrator--which claims that it will migrate Access files into FileMaker 7--would solve my dilemma. No such luck. I accomplished nothing, after several frustrating and wasted hours walking through the 'help' instructions. Maybe .com solution's developers might accomplish the task; I couldn't. FmPro Migrator doesn't live up to it's claims.

FMPro Migrator is unusuable on a Mac. First the help is unreadable unless a copy-paste in TextEdit for example; second one reads on that help the necessity to go through VirtualPC for translating a database. It seems taht the producer ignore the fact that an ODBC driver comes with FileMaker.

Tried the demo to go from FM 6 to FM 7. All I got was a bunch of text and blank icon files on my desktop. Some appeared and then disappeared when I clicked on them.

Nothing made sense, tried to follow steps, but could not get it to do anything remotely like I thought it would make a FM 7 file out of my FM 6 related DB files.

i know it was a demo, but what was it demoing? It certainly did not give me even a demo version of a FM 7 file with even a small amount of stuff moved over.
