Product Description:

Sofa is an application for MacOS X that allow you to control iTunes, the famous music player, in a whole different way. A small and elegant palette gathers the principal functions of the player, including the selection of your playlists, while the artwork of albums (automatically retrieved from internet) are displayed where you want on the screen, with the use of animations and transition effects, thanks to Apple's Quartz technology.

What's new in this version:

  • Adds a better support of iPod & external devices.
  • Adds an iTunes volume slider (If you use the "Crystal Original" or "Metal" theme, you need to download a newer version of it (see the plugins area of the site)).
  • Selecting a playlist from Sofa sets the iTunes view to it.
  • Showing iTunes from Sofa sets iTunes view to the current playlist.
  • Improves errors handling and debug messaging.
  • Fixes a graphic issue of certain frames with transition effect.
  • Fixes some instability issues

I've wanted to give this product a 4 star rate for some time now, but just now it startet to do some realy bad stuff; when it updates iTunes the song jumps to the next song and the song I was playing won't work anymore. So if you are scared if this programe some day will eat your music, stay away. But it worked for like 3 months so it helped me alot for a short while anyway...

Cedric Menard, the french author of this soft, has passed away on the 13th feb 2005. So I think there won't be any further development.
I regret this because Sofa is a very good app. Now, every new iTunes update may alter the stability of this soft. I use iTunes 6.0.4 on OS X 10.3.9 and Sofa quit unexpectedly with no apparent reason.
Otherwise, it is a very powerfull and fully customizable app.
