Sofa Reviewoh no! - Version: 0.6.0, 7/25/2006 09:59AM PST

I've wanted to give this product a 4 star rate for some time now, but just now it startet to do some realy bad stuff; when it updates iTunes the song jumps to the next song and the song I was playing won't work anymore. So if you are scared if this programe some day will eat your music, stay away. But it worked for like 3 months so it helped me alot for a short while anyway...

Cedric Menard, the french author of this soft, has passed away on the 13th feb 2005. So I think there won't be any further development.
I regret this because Sofa is a very good app. Now, every new iTunes update may alter the stability of this soft. I use iTunes 6.0.4 on OS X 10.3.9 and Sofa quit unexpectedly with no apparent reason.
Otherwise, it is a very powerfull and fully customizable app.
Thanks Cedric !

I love the way it works and displays the album cover properly. The controls are good and I really think it is a great app.

Sofa ReviewFuture Synergy Competitor - Version: 0.6v237, 2/29/2004 12:30PM PST

With all the potential of Sofa, I'm sure it will eventually become a great application. But for now, Synergy still beats Sofa hands down for what I want it to do. Hotkey, menubar control, and little CPU usage. Sofa doesn't come close in these areas.

Looking forward to seeing later versions.

Sofa ReviewIt's finally growing up - Version: 0.6v231, 2/18/2004 04:09AM PST

This is THE companion to iTunes, and I've used them all, PTHNotifier, Synergy and even youControl. It still lacks hotkeys and some polish though (I can't get it to auto-share covers with iTunes, having to do it manually). Especially in the documentation area. It NEEDS pop-up context help labels (WTF do that lock-icon do?). It could do with hue-adjustment of the skins (I love the snow-skin, but would like a more graphite top), like Audion.

And what's with that warning that pops up in the background (usually behind a window) asking if I want to share the cover with iTunes that I can't get in the front. I've often forced quit Sofa thinking it was crashed. Oh, and when choosing a cover manually from web services the menu will not go away when trying to apply the cover. I have to open it manually and drag it to the cover box (triggering another hidden alert).

This may seem like ranting, but I really love this software and would like to see the bugs go away ASAP. It's gotten better though. It used to be completely unusable. Now I can't live without it.

Is it possible to have the metal controls portion pop "upwards"? I keep the window at the bottom edge of my screen and need the buttons to pop upwards. Great potential for this app!

Sofa CommentaryExcellent - Version: 0.6v228, 2/13/2004 05:50AM PST

Beautifully executed utility. The only thing I'd like to see (unless it's in there and I've missed it) is an option for the palette to always be in front of all other windows, maybe in a minimized form when it's not the frontmost application. An alternative would be to be able to set a hot side of the screen (or hot corner) with an auto-hide feature, like the Dock.

Sofa ReviewA little better - Version: 0.6v228, 2/11/2004 07:04PM PST

Still get "An exception of class OutOfBoundsException was not handled" every few covers.
