Product Description:

Net Connections monitors the internet connections that your computer has at the moment. It uses the UNIX utility 'netstat' to gather this information. You can also do an nslookup or a whois lookup of the connections from within the program. Read the included READ ME file for more information, or visit the website. This program was made with REALbasic. It is Open Source so that those new to REALbasic can see some of the basics of making a program. Questions and comments are welcome!

What's new in this version:

  • Added an Auto Update feature to allow you to automatically update the list of Internet Connections that your computer has at a given interval that you specify
  • Added a column to indicate whether or not the connection is in the state "Established" or "Listen"
  • A few tweaks to the Interface

I use GeekTool to display connection info with an lsof command but this is a nice little tool. The lookup and host info are easily accessed. A custom icon would be nice. I have selected to keep mine in the dock for now and something 'network' oriented would be visually appealing. Thanks for your work!

netstat. An interpretation column for the ports would be real added value : eg. 80 | http, 139 | Windows File Sharing, 22 | ssh
