WinTel ReviewDoesn't Work With Intel iMacs - Version: 2.1.2, 3/21/2006 01:34PM PST

Despite what the developer's site states, this WILL NOT install XP onto an Intel iMac. I took the voluminous amount of negative feedback here with a grain of salt, gave OpenOSX the benefit of the doubt, and ended up losing $25 for my efforts.

For a good laugh, check out the "Installation Instructions" on their site that uses screenshots from a different version than the one they're selling. Very professional...this developer's site should have a countdown clock representing the small amount of time left before he goes out of business.

WinTel ReviewDon't buy this... - Version: 2.1.2, 3/21/2006 12:33PM PST

Don't bother buying this crap. I did, and even after two 20 hour attempts to install Win XP, it doesn't work. And both WinTel's UI as well as their so called tutorials are not even a joke.
Instead, just go here http://www.beatnikpad.com/archives/2006/03/20/windows-mac-q and after 50 Minutes XP runs without problems and with a decent UI.

WinTel CommentaryWARNING - Version: 2.1.2, 3/16/2006 11:58PM PST

This is basically Bochs (http://bochs.sourceforge.net/), an open-source and free x86 emulator. Therefore WinTel is just a lousy GUI from someone who wants to make quick $$$ from people that do not know that this tool is actually free.
On Intel Macs this does not even run natively (like VMWare).

Just a warning.

WinTel ReviewTech support and intel iMac - Version: 2.1.1, 3/10/2006 12:37AM PST

I have had absolutely great support from them.
Recieved myimages and installed Windows 2000 without problem.
With XP there is documented info on it needing special install whether on Q or WintelOSX.

Yes the install of XP is an all nighter, but it can be done.

Any problems were addressed with no more than a 1/2 hour delay in email response.

Response for me in PST was always in the evening.

WinTel CommentaryRipoff - Charged credit card but did not provide access key - Version: 2.1.1, 3/8/2006 08:55AM PST

What a rip off. Purchased this two weeks ago. He charged my credit card fine. Even sent me the download link but when I requested the disk image password, no response. Tried three times to get the key - he received it since I can no longer download. e-mailed, called the 800 and direct numbers. No response.

Going to have to dispute the charge with the credit card company.

Avoid openosx.com at all costs.

WinTel ReviewReally - don't waste your money or your time! Dead horse! - Version: 2.1.1, 3/6/2006 08:28AM PST

Here it is: I have been unable to install W95, 98 or XP. I have tried and tried. All either fall at the first hurdle or drop dead just before the winning post. This nag needs putting down.

For info I have tried on an iMac G5 and a Powerbook G4. Over and over. Buy VPC and just install it.

WinTel ReviewI agree that this product is CRAP! - Version: 2.1.1, 3/2/2006 08:40AM PST

I just purchased version 2.1 of this product (February 28, 2006). I've been trying to install Windows XP on a new Intel iMac for over 12 hours so far and its only about 50% through copying initial files from the XP CD. I've tried calling the company multiple times and emailing them with NO answer at all. It several HOURS for me to get a download link after making the purchase and then another ~12 hours to get a password to unlock the dmg file after downloading it. The directions are very poor for getting Windows installed and it took me about 5 tried and different configurations to get the virtual computer to even boot from a CD. I guess I'm waiting for MS Virual PC...

WinTel CommentaryLet the Buyer Beware - Version: 2.1.1, 2/23/2006 03:14PM PST

There is a reader spamming this thread with comments. His entire VT history consists of posts which attempt to legitimize this product.

With any product, let the buyer beware. People reading this VT review thread will see a lot of negative posts. The fact that WinTel is now a rebranding of Qemu instead of Bochs doesn't take away from the many experiences that others have had with this company.

Use your own common sense if you decide to buy from this company. I have vowed never to buy from them again based on my past experience. I suggest that you spend your money donating to the real people behind quality Open Source projects.
