Product Description:

WinTel allows host operating systems (and applications) such as Microsoft Windows(R) to run in a protected, virtual environment in a window on Mac OS X. Now with the included "Qemu", the instructions may be dynamically translated, drastically enhancing performance, especially, on the Intel(R) Macintoshes over our previous versions based on "Bochs".

What's new in this version:

  • Installation of Microsoft(R) Windows and Windows Update may now be performed with the "Dynamic Translation" (Qemu) option, which is now capable of installing Windows XP Professional in about 45 minutes on the Intel 2.0 GHz-Duo iMac.
  • Resolves a potential issue using the CD-ROM with Microsoft(R) Windows
  • Resolves a potential issue with Soundblaster(R) support
  • Overall increased performance and stability.

WinTel ReviewWintel sucks!!! - Version: 2.1.3, 11/13/2006 05:02PM PST

I boutght wintel last year for my trip to cabo because I was trying to get windows to install natively because of the contest. It was soooooo slow. It was virtually unusable. The company claims a six week release cycle, but they haven't released another version since spring of 2006. Last week I though I would try parallels, Sucess!! Prallels is exponentially faster, but more expensive, but its worth it.

WinTel CommentaryDO NOT SEND ANY MONEY!!! - Version: 2.1.3, 10/25/2006 02:02PM PST

I left the last comment, which was positive, and perhaps naive. Since my last contact with the company, they seem to have abandoned the product to the extent that the tutorials no longer link to a site. Now I own the product without knowing how to use it! Buy iEmulator instead. Same price, but SUPER customer service. At this point I could've bought an old PC for all I need Windows for!

I was apprehensive when I didn't get an immediate download after paying through Paypal for WinTel. Then I came back to this site and saw all the negative listings, and felt worse!

HOWEVER, I sent an email to the folks at WinTel, who contacted me within the day to send the link. Then, when I couldn't complete opening the .dmg file, needing a password, I emailed again, and received the password the following day, which opened WinTel just fine.

I haven't had a chance to play with the app. just yet, but I wanted to post that the WinTel folks may not be the fastest to respond, but in my case, they have been reasonably quick to contact. I hope that all the negative postings are a thing of the past for WinTel. Thanks for reading :-)
